Creative inspiration? I should think so... NS is genius that EVERYONE would want to follow <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->
The scythe arms thing has been done MANY times before.
<img src='http://www.thewarp.net/war/nocturne/ggallery/warrior.jpg' border='0' alt='user posted image'>
For example.
They look like an armoured copy of the Pokemon <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->
Detached from the hive mind and enhanced with Nanites, these new weapons are sure to spell doom for the Kharaa! <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->
<!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->
na the scythe effect is done on nearly everything
(see starship troopers for another example.)

Look at the top for the backstory. Rather disturbing. And quoted below for those of you too lazy to click.

The mysterious wardens serve as the night elves' special police force in Kalimdor. Set apart from the militant Sentinels, wardens are usually employed as jailors, assassins, and bounty hunters. When loosed upon escaped criminals, wardens employ a number of supernatural powers that enable them to recapture their prey and meet out the night elves' justice. <i>Wardens have a line of sight teleport ability called "blink," which they can use to outmaneuver even the quickest of foes.</i>

That would be awsome to have in a newer version of NS.
Its also in battle zone 2.
Humph. Where's my royalty?
--Scythe--
P.S. I was just thinking that looks more like a Tribes 1 skin than UT2003.
or at least it was till it went pay to play <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/sad.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad.gif'><!--endemo-->
blink is not teleport in D&D. Blink is a spell/ability that allows you to "blink" between the ethereal and prime material planes (well, whatever plane it is you're on at the time) and thus appear to be winking in and out of existence.
Yes, they are similar, but you could say that NS ripped off SC's Hydralisk; but instead of a long, snake-like "foot" they used doubled-reverse legs. (three bones make up one leg, where the first joint is the hip/first leg bone, the first leg bone/second leg bone form the second joint (thats the first knee), the third joint (AKA the "reverse" knee) is made up of the second leg bone and third leg bone, and the fourth joint the ankle.)
look closely here -> <!--emo&::fade::--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/fade.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='fade.gif'><!--endemo-->
the first leg bone looks like a backwards slash ( \ )
the second leg bone looks like a strait line ( _ )
and the third leg bone looks like another backwards slash ( \ )
i'd surmise the leg structure would be suited to a higher jump/longer stride; thus allowing the fade to cover longer distances faster and jump farther than a human can (with its single knee).
THAT picture you posted has a "human" knee. Not a fade's knee (which is, as stated, double-reverse) <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->
PS: Sorry, sometimes i just like to give out useless information.
Dont bring Games Workshops to the table though, Those jackass havent got an orginal idea to save there lifes....

that was rather inciteful.
Human beings are plantigrade; our heels impact the ground in a normal stride. Our legs look like this
\
/_
<b>Many</b> other animals are digitigrade; only their "toe" bones impact the ground when they walk. The bones that make up the "foot" instead form the lengthened ankle, like this:
\
/
\
An excellent example of this bone structure is the back leg of a cat or horse. A less obvious but equally accurate example is the leg of a bird.
I see.
This is getting a little too biologically technical for me..

He brings much shame to us poor Aussies..

He makes Americans think Aussies (and Kiwis to a lesser extentent) are like Crocadile Dundee (another dominant protrail of Australians in the US media. I could go into reasons why People in the US (and other American countries) like these media figures, but that would require a very long post, and I am in no state to write such a post.

Indeed.
The first few times Americans ask if we have television/phonelines etc it's rather humerous, but they sorta cross the line when they start asking if we ride in kangaroos' pouches to school/work.
For some reason, everyone's supposed to have a pet koala too. Nfi why.. (Koalas have nasty claws and they know how to use them. They also urinate and sh*t a lot. On top of that, they aren't that friendly and they stink.) They aren't very common either, not many around these days. I've probably seen 5 in my life.
Just a useless FYI for you uneducated yanks (and others) <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->
Well, I heard that an American family visiting Edinburgh commented how clever it was of the Scottish to build the Castle so close to the train station.
I hate stupid people. <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->
