Diablo V 1.10

Potential threat to NS 2.0
Last week the beta version of Diablo 2 v 1.10 was released to the public. The completed version will be released for download within the next two weeks.
For those of you that don't know Diablo v 1.10 is a massive patch for the RPG Diablo 2: Lord of Destruction. It will completely change many aspects of the game and has been in the works for about 11 months (more if you count when it wasn't official).
Many people, myself included, have been in waiting for this patch since before NS even went public. And now it seems that they might both be comming out at the exact same time.
Potential problems.
1.) Both games are highly anticipated and are very involving
2.) A lot of people in the NS community are fans of Blizzard as well
3.) Both games revolve around huge online communities
4.) Both patches will be free.
5.) V 1.10 has incentive to play as much as possible early to get high ladder rankings.
6.) It seems they are both comming out at almost the same time!
I know I'll be playing v. 1.10 religiously when it comes out. What do you guys think is this going to take away from the 2.0 launch?

if your silly enough to spend all your gaming time on diablo then thats your problem.
for me, i will be quite fine with ns.
ohh and there are always release clashes with everything. Sure the devs arent too worried.
And what would they do anyway? Ohh Mr. Blizzard we have this little Half Life modification would you mind holding off your patch....
Or if they delay 2.0.... well lets just say its better to have your health.
I uninstalled it, and quit, and even though 1.10 is coming back I know what it was like to be addicted to playing, and I don't want to be like that again. :)

One of my friend's (Aaron) friend's (Phil) plays that game religiously at my friend's (Aaron's) house and whenever I'm over there I always get the urge to run over and hit the power button on his computer. It royally ticks him off and I usually end up running outside with a paintball gun waiting for him to come chase after me.
P.s. I had to add in the () otherwise it's a little bit confusing, but if I was to use their names it'd also be confusing because you don't know who they are. ;-)
Shhhh, you aren't supposed to say that. Otherwise it takes the fun out of it. He's caught on to my plan recently and usually comes out with a gun of his own and goggles.
It is a is hack and slash game
I'd suggest you play a better hack and slash game called dungeon siege or play a real rpg, which you probably have, like BG1, 2, U7, NWN, and such.
I use to play diablo 2 and was addicted for a while, but soon lost interest, when Baldur's gate II came out. NOW THAT is an addictive game.
Hehe too bad LoD is the singlest highest selling expansion pack ever eh?
btw for any of you that know anything about diablo the new patch will have a fresh economy, which for those of you have had the chance means selling in game items for outrages prices on e-bay.
Being someone who has made 200 dollars off of one sale I'm looking at it more like a business opprotunity : P
I played D2X for a little bit, only got my Paladin to 59 I think. It was sorta fun, but the non random dungeons got old. Fast. That's why I liked playing the old Diablo, random dungeon generator was the rox, hehehe.

Dear god you never played it online???
thats where 85% of the gameplay is.
The singleplayer game was awesome the first time through, but it's the same damn thing online...
It's disturbing but during one of the hottest times in Diablo I made more in a month than I do working a fulltime job at 8 bucks an hour.
Proud to say I'm not one of the people who will be taken away... except by my brothers wedding
And D2 is an RPG. Dungeon Siege was ok, I was really dissappointed.
But I do have to say making all archer groups was fun as hell.
I find that playing legit is a lot funner than hacking, besides other diff purposes that you want to achieve through hacking.
But Sirius (name of the brightest star if you knew), diablo is not even 5% RPG.
No seriously, it isn't. I mean there is a difference b/w two types of games in this similiar genre, the typical "hack and slash" and the true role-playing experience. I am not saying that diablo does not have any rpg elements, just that its plain clear diablo2 is not a typical bg2 rpg. But than again no game is truely an RPG; go play the sims online or dungeons and dragons if you want to roleplay. But if you look at games like U7 (haven't finished), you can eat, sleep, and talk, yes, TALK to people in a way that what you say affects the outcome.
I like both types of games and will continue to play the type that I feel like playing at a certain time.

If Diablo 2 is an RPG then so is every other damn game ever made.
Honestly, action games are not RPG's no matter how many pseudo RPG elements they add.
Fallout is an RPG
Diablo 2 is an action game with an atrocious combat system.
There is a DISTINCT difference.
D2 is an RPG. It involves all the basic elements, which I really don't need to tell you, because they're all the same. Just because you don't like it compared to other games is a poor excuse to say its not an RPG.
Sure, D2 is hack and slash, but pretty much any RPG can be, it doesn't need to be a console RPG involving battle sequences. It can be realtime. And the best thing about D2 was that Melee Fighters and Archers had unique skills, in Dungeon Siege, fighters had no unique skills for fighting, you were always limited to....slash...wait...slash..wait, all the way to level 150.
D2 had a variety of skills that made melee combat fun and interesting, along with making archers interesting. Just because the Diablo world broke out of the old boring and busted action RPG genre and totally changed what the genre could be doesn't mean it's not an RPG.
And Role-playing is based on the player, its undeniable, no game could ever make a person play IC or OOC. So what, D2 focused on combat, it's fun, it's fun getting items, it's fun playing in parties with lots of people with monsters coming from everywhere, it's fun to do a variety of spells that aren't limited to mages.
So lets be bitter, say D2 isn't an RPG, but it undeniably is. Just because it's not another plastic version of everyother Action RPG out there.

I applaud you for your defense of a great game. Blizzard knew they weren't squaresoft and they didn't go out of their way to try to make an epic RPG so they went out to make a very enjoyable game. They succeeded.
Additionaly, there are only two types of RPGs turn-based and action. And it doesn't matter if you think an action RPG is too hack 'n' slash because its still an RPG.
They are releasing a whole new realm, a whole new economy, a whole new set of items, and a new interaction system between spells.
in 1.10 you'll be able to make "ladder" characters, much like hardcore characters now, that will exist completely seperatly from non-ladder chararcters and have their own seperate economy.
Spells will now give bonuses to each other, and there are new items including unique jewels and unique charms.
