    You need someone to host your custom avatar.

    no you don't...

    In your control panel, you can choose one of the standard avatars, or choose to upload one, or choose to link one.

    Now, just find a pic you want that satisfies all rules for avatars, save it to your hard disk, and upload it to the NS forums like mentioned above.

    AFAIK you can't upload a custom avatar.

    So my suggestion is that you use google and find a picture from Homer Simpson and then link your avatar from there.
    (so the place you found it is hosting it for you)

    Pfft I can't help it if it doesn't work...

    Do what Paq says if it doesn't, his method was the easiest, just find a pic that suits the rules, and just link to it.

    I suggest fixing this option then ^_^

    Cheers

    Yes, avatars often get deleted, because the NS forum servers are 'cleaned'.

    I suggest the next sites:

    <a href='http://www.hostmysig.com' target='_blank'>Host My Signature</a> (unlimited bandwidth, 300.000 clicks a month, unlimited picture size, 10 images max)

    <a href='http://www.villagephotos.com' target='_blank'>Village Photos</a> (5mb limited bandwidth a day, 125kb limited picure size, 20 images max)

    <a href='http://www.deviantart.com' target='_blank'>Deviant Art</a> (not sure about specs, sometimes very slow)

    <a href='http://www.artwanted.com' target='_blank'>Art Wanted</a> (not much that I know about it)

    Hope this helps. <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->

    It works fine, provided you follow the restrictions:

    No more than 64x64 pixels
    Less than 2k size.
    .gif, .jpeg, .jpg

    I know, I was playing around with it for a while.
    The 2k limit is the hardest bit.

    I prefer having a friend host it or getting a hosting site to do it for you and then just put a link to the pic in the "your avatar" in your controls

    Oh, 2K is the limit. No wonder that I couldn't upload my avatar when I joined here. <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->

    I thought the 2K limit was also for the un-uploaded avatars... So you can have a larger sized avatar, if you host it yourself?

    See, it *does* work if you follow the rules laid down by the Gods... mwuahaha...

    Larger size for storage requirements, yes.
    Larger size for pixels, no.
