<div class="IPBDescription">And how do you hope to achieve them</div> Just thought i'd make a topic about this. I just want to know, what are all of your goals or dreams in life? What do you hope to change and revolutionise?
<b><span style='color:RED'>I'm of course talking real goals, career goals. Nothing unrealistic like "I WANT TO BE THE FIRST MAN TO GROW 17 LEGS AND WIN AT BADMINTON". Keep it serious guys.</span></b>
I'll get the ball rolling ...
It is my goal, at present, to start my own successful design company where around 70% of the designers are pre or post-graduate from university. Web / Graphic design is incredibly hard to get a break into, especially if you've not yet gone through University. I hope to try and change this, at least for a number of promising young designers.
Through personal experience i <i>know</i> it's hard to get in, i spent a lot of time unemployed because of either lack of experience or lack of qualifications, but not a single interview i went to did they fail to comment on the quality of my work. Nobody (except the minute company i work for now) will give a break to talented young designers because of mere paperwork.
I want to give above minimum-wage pay in a secure full-time working environment (the major problems with the existing program) to give young designers a taste of the industry or a secure job doing what they love. Design is an artform. Design is passion. Too many people are having the fires in their hearts extinguished by a bunch of suits who only care about your education, not your talent.
*wipes tear from eye and climbs down from soap-box*
Please, can we also keep this thread on-topic <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->

Comments
to be honest are really stupid some may think...
1, be successful in my field (computing)
2, true love.
3, snuggle chair! (not many will understand this)
4, bring life into the world.
1. True love
2. A fun job with good money
3. Overtuning my bro's car <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->
4. Hoping that tommy forgives me <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/sad.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad.gif'><!--endemo-->
K.
My Goals:
Go to college, major in Architecture, minor in Landscape Architecture, study engineering, in addition I plan on studying some Information Technologist skills.
Set up a multi-disciplinary firm, (Having Architects, Landscape Architects and Engineers all in one building working together) to design amazing and innovative buildings, I've grown up in an ugly town, I can't tell you how much I want to bring back some of the old spanish mediterranean style back to some parts of California.
Then I plan on becoming a Philanthropist, and setting up several charity foundations all of which I will be actively involved with. Mainly, I'm tired of seeing things done poorly, so, I've decided that I'm going to dedicate my life to helping people, and doing it right.
And of course. I want to find the perfect wife. <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->
Good luck with that company, esuna. I really believe you could tap on a lot of unused potential there, although I feel you should ensure there'll be a kind of backbone of experienced designers at any time, if only to have credentials for the suits you'll then try to sell something to.
Godspeed, Renegade.
Personally, I have a rather typical aim:
Getting into the gaming industry, no matter how. Eventually, I hope to make it to a content design job, where I'd love to create singleplayer-focussed games relying on a synthesis of narrative devices from both film and literature; I'm convinced the medium 'computer game' can offer the deepness of a good book and the visual brilliance of a great movie, <i>combined</i> with the still largely undiscovered possibilities of interactivity.
So, in short, I want to become a storyteller <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->
I'd like to be a published author. Published in any medium that is. I've written film and stage scripts, poetry and short stories. None of the aformentioned i've so much as let other people read, except a single proof reader. This is a dream.
Another thing, again a tad more unrealistic, i'd love to get a record deal. Music is an immense part of my life, i've made lot of it, i've written even more than i've made. This is, however, <b><i>not</i></b> to do with the money, that point needs to be stressed. I love music, music is an art, an artists integrity shouldn't be sold to the highest bidder.
2) Become a successful game programmer and/or designer
3) Maybe start my own game dev studio, going against the grain by not having a crunch time to sacrifice our personal lives for the last 8 months of a project...
Love
Education
Good Job
Family
1. To have a nice job which pays well (I wouldn't mind being a Pilot)
2.A really nice leather chair
3.To be able to play ns 2.0 <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->
Suffering from a chronical disease with the attribute "lethal", named <a href='http://www.merck.com/mrkshared/mmanual_home/sec4/43.jsp' target='_blank'>cystic fibrosis</a>, one of my goals in life is to "get rid" of this disease one day.
Since I'm neither interested nor talented in medical research, this is more a hope than a goal, but still important to me...
Being a passionated "artist", another goal of mine is to get a job as a concept artist, either in the film or in the gaming industrie.
Together with this long-term goal comes the wish to become better in drawing to reach the level of great artists like <a href='http://www.john-howe.com' target='_blank'>John Howe</a>, <a href='http://www.goodbrush.com' target='_blank'>Craig Mullins</a> or <a href='http://artbyfeng.com' target='_blank'>Feng Zhu</a>, to name a few.
Over the last 3 years, I've become quite adept with PhotoShop, and also quite interested in things most people call "Web/Graphic Design".
Although this activities doesn't involve as much creativity as concept drawings, they still satisfy me and a job in this branch is something I consider both "fun" and possible, therefore my education will most likely go this way.
Although my main talent is drawing, writing is another form of "art" I'm really enjoying.
In the best case, my future work should combine these two, a thing concept art may or may not do.
I've had plans on writing a book, but just like esuna, this is more a dream than a real goal...
Together with my brother, we've created plans on starting a company in a yet undecided buisness. Being both very "creative" people, we've come up with thousands of ideas and products. Some of our goals include films, other games, all are very "optimistic".
Independent from whatever our future will bring us, I really hope that this company one day will become reality, since I can't imagine a person I could work better with...
Every time I play a game, or watch a film, my mind is filled with questions like "Why didn't they change this texture" or "That looks cool, but theyy should've made...". I can't count how often I've created the "perfect" game in my mind.
Although I'm realistic enough to know that there is a very rare chance of achieving, creating my own, innovative and totally groundbreaking game togehter with my brother, is one of the things I consider as my "goals in Life", and also something that I want to be "revolutionary".
Looking at all those goals, there are some more realitic ones, that may satisfy me just as much.
Even if I don't make it into the game or film industry, a simple living in a house in sweden, next to a lake, spending the day with drawing and writing, would make me unbelievable happy. As much as I like to talk, as much I enjoy listening to music while reading, writing, drawing or just thinking. After various vacations to sweden, this land seems to be the optimal resort for me...
On a different note (and because I'm too lazy to post a seperate reply), I think I speak for everyone here when I wish Ramses the best of luck with his illness. One day, you'll be an obese little nerd like the rest of us, Rasmus <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo--></span>
I only have a vauge picture at this time... Lets just throw it out...
Probably a degree in wither Philosophy or Theology, then I'll probably get a job teaching Language Arts or Theology, maybe History or something... I'll do that for a few years, see where my life takes me, and I'll probably think about missionary work.
Really though, I've learned that sometimes it's just better to put your faith in the fact that whatever Diety you believe in is going to get you where you need to be, and just go along for the ride... Then again, that could just be me.
Basicly, I don't really care where I end up, as long as I have people around me I can pour myself into, make a difference on the small scale, in their lives, I'll be happy.
There is but one, and that is to eventually either A). Rule Earth, or B). Setup an evil corporation and take over space.
I am sure that this is possible, it'll just take a little effort to achieve. <!--QuoteEnd--> </td></tr></table><span class='postcolor'> <!--QuoteEEnd-->

Is it so suprising? People all throughout history have wanted to rule the world, why should he be different?
As for me, i aspire to be a stay at home father. So many kids today dont get a father at all, or only get to see him a few days a week, or have a father thats at work most of the time. I want to give my children love and time that other children dont get, and to prove to the world that a father can be something other than the guy who pays the bills. I can cook and clean, and decorate; I have taste and style and I dont like men.
Once I get that degree, I guess I'll be mostly doing grunt work to get a foothold in the industry (and it'd be swell if that industry was games-related, but I wouldn't get my hopes up too high), though ultimately after I get a good reputation either going freelance or setting up a design company of my own. I've even had a name for it since '98, when I did my first "real piece" (as in, it was found printed all over the university I was at at the time, since it was the logo for an important student organisation).
That's something of a distant goal though - it'll take a couple of years to build up the cash to make university feasable, I think, and the rest is even further off.
edited to add a few other "wee" ones:
Record and release a record
Write and publish a book
Build a neat treehouse
and last and by no means least (in fact, this is probably the most important of all):
Marry my girl
1- Get a faster connection to play NS (600 as ping is just TOO SLOW)
2- Survive High School
3- Enter MIT, (engenering as major)
4- Survive college
5- Work for NASA or Boeing
2. Write a sci-fi novel, that will one day be made into a movie.
<insert Electronics Engineer degree here>
3. Start my own software company, design new Operating System and games.
4. Buy out Microsoft.
5. Eventually control almost every aspect of technology through a transparent yet intricate network of shell companies, political influence, and brute force.
6. Uh....PROFIT!!!
[i]EDIT: No, the above is not an exaggeration and/or daydream fantasy...[i]
Back on Off-Topic.
Besides my very obvious wanting to come home safely everyday, I'd like a family to come home to everyday (And I'm already half-way there <!--emo&;)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/wink.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wink.gif'><!--endemo-->). Besides that, I just want what everyone else wants; to live happily ever after.
I need to improve my art/animation skills. After highschool, I'm planning to head into either a technical school or art college to further improve said skills. Ultimate goal is to be able to create animated stories and/or games with Christian values/philosophy weaved in yet still be entertaining to the secular world, (i.e., Lord of the Rings - although I heard Tolkien never wanted his work to be seen involved with Christian analogies, it's amazing how much relation there is).
2)I was gonna say get laid, but I just recently accomplished that, so I got just one thing left to do.
