Hmm i think i understand ya u would like a program that selectivly downloads the files u need? and doesnt bother with the ones u have? i somehow dout the dev team has time to make such a program also all the files in the big file are compressed to make it smaller so in the long run it would most likely take longer to download each file on its own.

The size for 2.0 was around 120meg last time i cheaked :/ bad for us 56ks like a 8 hour download.

i got about 1 out of 20 gb left... resorted to moving stuff to other comp/deleting files.

Jasp... don't know how you managed to deduce that the team has no time for a patch... I think they would probably do that.

A patch would be really nice .

Thier was a post about this about 1 week ago and the playtesters plus vets said a patch was most likely not possible as so much has changed in the game.

And updating NS instead of doing a clean install will save space how?

I hear ya dude. I did 4 years of dialup. I haven't had my cable for even a year yet. I was happy when downloading half-life patches cost me 8 hours. I had crap dialup. Its too bad a patcher ISNT available. I'm gonna buy you that Hang in there baby kitty poster.

I feel 4 ya too. Your best bet is an "over-nighter", when u do it overnite so nobody calls. DAP and Get it Right are both good progs that resume broken d/ls (take that AOL!).
And yeah, a patch is very tiresome to do.
And with something like this, doubtful is even possible.

AOL should be shot, cut up, and have all its cruddy ash plates thrown back at their face. They cut your bandwidth in half for crying out loud! They have practically the same service as a free ISP does... not that there are many left. I used to use netzero... eh going off on a tangent.

I guess a patch is impossible ... and btw, Getright doesn't boost your speed for 56k. Segmented downloading is bugged ... at least for me. It messes up my files. Get Netants... Getright is just a lame piece of advertising crap now -- packed with spyware and the like. Netants is not only free, it doesn't take 5 seconds to load and is quite stable and unbugged. Every since getright 3.0 it's been going downhill.

i use DAP on DSL and it works fine... hey at least your NS folder isn't as clogged up but it sucks for you people with custom models/sprites/sounds cause you have to port them over again

Its good for resuming downloads or downloading files when you have more mirrors (say you can download 20KB/s but the server lets you download maximally 5KB/s so you add another mirrors to fill your bandwidth). But on 56k modem, you still CANNOT get over about 7KB/s, more likely you will get something like 6KB/s, thats its physical limit. If you will be downloading at 56k theoretical maximum speed it will still take 5 hours to download 120MB.

What you are talking about is not getright, its GoZilla. I use GetRight and theres no single advertising window or such and no spyware.

The update wil not save your HDD space, if you have something like 100MB NS1.0 (dont know how much exactly it has and i am lazy to look) and some 50MB NS2.0 patch it will be more MBs than 120MB NS2.0.

Download Express is pretty handy for resuming those huge downloads on 56k.

Reliable, assuming you configure it properly, free, and no spyware.

If it is indeed the case that there will be no patch, it's a slight annoyance, but it won't stop me getting 2.0 anyway. ( also, NS is a pretty popular mod, so I wouldn't be surpised to see it appearing on a few PC mag coverdisks..)

AFAIK MonsE is planning to do a patch installer.
