Comments?
It was very very good, I must say, it was the best one I've seen in my 17 years of living.

I think people will look back to what Blair said now and say, "Gee, maybe he was right."

One of Blair's main points to his speech was that terrorism works only to cause tension and anger between all of our alliences... and I must say, it's working quite well. Every time someone argues why a dictator like Saddam should stay in power, you fufill his own objectives.

Does anyone else have comments on Blair's speech?

Please, for the love of god, do NOT reply with something with the intention of angering others, do not reply to anyone else with an insult, do not say anything blown out of proportion. Just offer your views and make some small comments, I just want to see what the general concencious of Blair's speech is.

I heard about it and got the impression that he did a very good job

thats what I've come to expect from Mr. Blair, he seems to be smart when he talks...

I was surprised at the reception he got from the joint Congress... usually when you watch the televised debates of the British parliament Blair gets pwned by the liberals (i think that's his opposition party?) and much shouting ensues...but it seems that Blair got quite a welcome in Washington.

(btw I live in the states)

I can't comment directly because I didn't see the speech but Blair has said in the past that all of his reasoning for taking military actions were justified and that he acted upon completely sound intelligence.

On a note unrelated to this specific topic I'd like to add that I always thought the British and US leaders took a very good stance on the Terrorism issue and from what has transpired in the last couple of years it's been an effective one.

I don't mean to thread hijak either so continue discussing the speech : )

I thought he did very well myself.

If it was just doublespeak, or actually believable on the large scale of things is up to the individual however.

don't think such political things should go in here...

anyway, Blaire's speach was plain rediculous. Reality looks differently to what he presents it...

I for mine really am weary of this kind of argumentation. It makes a, although faint, connection between 'domestic opposition' and 'terrorist supporters'.

Aside from this, note that this thread is under observation. Keep it on topic and we might be able to keep it open. Let it branch off in general political bashing, and I'll lock it.

I heard a little bit of it on NPR but not the whole thing. I just read it. That is a pretty inspiring piece of writing. Does anyone know if he writes his own speeches?

Off Topic: I love it when they play clips of parliament in session. It sounds like a sporting event. I wish congress had that much vitality.

I never saw the Speech, but i heard it was going to happen a few days ago.
I'm british and i don't like Tony Blair, he has never done anything for this country, he says he will do this and he never does. All of it is for show, all he wants to do is be put into the history books.

If the people of England vote for him again to be Prime Minister for the UK they all need slapping.

Tony Blair is just one big massive lier, with his head so far up President Bushs **** you don't know where he ends and Blair starts.
Sure he makes speechs sound good, thats because he has very good people working underneath him.
