A Solution To The Bullets And Skulks Through Ladde

The maintenance hive in eclipse has a ladder not attached to the side of a wall. It allows bullets to pass. You can climb like a ladder as a marine. You pass right through it as a skulk. A clip brush added in wouldn’t make it any better. I’m sure this has been annoying Squirrel and anyone else who has encountered it.
I found a solution almost completely by accident. I was sitting in the little skybox above my skylight window chatting with Barney. Naturally, the window is made of a func_seethrough with a commander alpha of 0, a player alpha of 127 and all the faces except the relevant one were textured with null. As Natural Selection players often do, I fired some bullets around and they went through the window and hit the floor. Through the window. A little testing later a func_seethrough with 255 or 0 player alpha stop bullets and skulks can, of course, climb func_seethrough.
So there’s your solution, a translucent, null textured, func_seethrough. Ta da! I hope you enjoyed my little story.

    Or, you could download NS2.0 on the 31st which has no such ladder problems, heck, no such midair ladders even <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->

    Can't wait for this "new hive" in eclipse...
    I spoke with KFS, he has replaced maintenance with something else. At the end of the conversation he was looking through his backups for an old hive, before maintenance, but I don't know what the end result will be.
    Should be fun finding out <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->

    Unless I'm mistaken it does have a clip brush. The whole point of having a clip brush and not an invisible func_wall or something so so that you can shoot through it, which is realistic considering the amount of the ladder that is empty space. Skulks not being able to climb on it is a side-effect from how skulks stick to walls. Skulks can't stick to ladders or clipbrushes. (If a skulk could try to climb up a ladder it would send him flying)

    You pass right through it as a skulk. That ladder is definitely made of a func_illusionary and a func_ladder. If there was a clip brush in there it would stop skulks from running through it.
