I Keep Getting Accused Of Pistol Scripting

<div class="IPBDescription">(again) your opinions?</div> Right, this is mainly at long distance or in vents. The skulks that i was playing against last night were particularly stupid it seems, because they would stand more or less still, allowing me to move my left hand to the mouse, and use my right hand to hammer the "Enter/Return" key. Needless to say, this is very fast, but all i kept hearing was "Omg script kiddeh!". i explained what i was doing, and how stupid they must be to stand still and let me, yet they continued. Is this in anyway unfair?

No, I use a key for precision shooting since mouse clicking spoils your aim. As long as it ain't a script doing auto-fire, Im ok with it.

Well, no server really enforces whether or not you fire your pistol at a reasonable rate even though its a bug. Its too much of a bother really for server ops and besides... 2.0 is just around the corner so who cares! <img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/nerd.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='nerd.gif'>

Actually, I have something where as when I click my mouse 3 times in a row really fast, it clicks it 5 more times, so three clicks for me is 8 clicks for the game, might be cheating, but my computer does it in all programs, and I didn't even ask it to.

You should discipline your computer, using intensive format sessions followed by DVD ripping to make it sweat <img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'>

The fastest I can fire my pistol clip with my fore finger would have to be two seconds... Guess thats fare game.

Hope they didnt nurf the pistol too much in 2.0. I dont want to have it fire once every three seconds, more like once every half a second. I can click my finger that fast.

I think the main problem here is prediction. Because neither you or the skulks are seeing things happen at the same time, or even in the same places, it often "feels" as if marines are able to shoot around walls, or get off tons of shots in a second, or kill you with far too few bullets.

Actualy, the people who were accusing me were lerks in powersilo. They were sitting half over the edge at the top, so i hid behind an RT, lined up and hammered the enter key. Fires way faster than i thought.

The main reason for me asking this is because it is in no way different to the mouse wheel binded to +fire. Both can shoot as fast as each other, so why is this ok but mouse wheel not?

Just roll with it. With 2.0 imminent, the issue of pistol scripting is moot. Besides, the idea of pistol scripting it to let loose all the rounds in the pistol in less than a second. Essentially turning the pistol into a sniper rifle. If you can hear someone distinctivly firing their pistol, then its not a script. It could be mousewheel, but again flicking your mousewheel could screw up your aim.

In short, don't care. There will always be people who cry cheat when they are killed.

I think I read somewhere that the pistol shoots max 6 bullets each second in 2.0 Hardly nerfed.

Hmm I played with ya one time in the past week stickman, and you definately weren't firing fast <img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'>

IF someone fires beyond normal apprehension you'll be able to hear it. Be it a mousewheel or a script, you'll hear a constant sound, when someone just has a fast finger, the pistol shotts won't be right after another but they will have short but noticeable VARIABLE delays.

First of all, you were never <i>accused</i>, just <b>asked</b> not to do it. Two different things. You very plainly overreacted, and the other three admins on at the same time said the same thing. No action was taken against you at all.

And, you need to read the server rules and understand the difference between a <i>kick</i> and a <i>ban</i>.

As far as losing a good player, I don't see you on much, and from what I saw, I won't miss you. Good day.

It happens, I get accused but normally by players or admins that dont know what they're talking about or they're passing a backhand compliment.

A bit like I've said the odd player who came under fire from more suspicious player, "player, you are cheating. You appear to by using 'your brain' to give you an unfair advantage."

I use no scripts, people who observe will notice that I often fire different ammounts of bullets and at different rates. It's all down to a twichy index finger and lots of practice on "Daily Thompsons Decathalon".

Next time you hear "OMG Pist0l sc1pt5!!11", just answer "ty <img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'>"

I've only once cried cheat before, and that was when someone kept turning almost instantly around and perfectly shooting enemies, tbh most of the time I think any "errors" or "cheats" that people percive are just todo with lag and bullet prediction.

But see why would you? I dont know, maybe unless the onos is RIGHT on top of you. Besdies the fact that scripts are cheating I wouldnt want to shoot my sidearm back up weapon of that quickly anyway. What if you miss? What then *click click...

Pistols are a back up weapon they arnt ment to be fired super fsat anyways. If you wanted that Flayra would ahve given you a micro Uzi or something.

I usualy just fire 1 shot a second at the most. Then you can keep putting semi aimed fire at that skulk for 10 seconds longer then just one, allowing you to keep him busy and for you to shout for med/backup/move somewhere else etc. lol

The only time you can even say that someone is scripting is when it's sounds almost like a cannon, because it fire so quickly that you can't hear any space withing the playing sound, as if someone was just clicking.

I've seen scripters fire off practically every round in what seemed like one shot.

i can do that, but i dont use the script, still supernorn2000 is keeping me banend from nano becuase he never could change his mind, hes oblivious, stubborn and thinks he KNOWS everything, i also heard scripts shoot all 10 rounds, when i kileld him the day before i only fired 7.

Nah... I'm sticking to my beliefs. If someone is firing bullets "automatically" the "rythm" will be steady:

blam - blam - blam - blam - blam

If someone just uses his index finger there'll always be a variable time in between the shots:

blam - blam ---blamblam- blam ----- blam

Next to that, if one would use the mousewheel, most of the time you hear the pistol shot very bad, like a skipping record. As if your pc can't keep up, and it plays 3 pistol shot sounds instead of the ten shots he fired.

In general, if someone really "scripts" make a demo, watch it a day after the original game, and be objective. Usually you'll come back on your strong beliefs of that person being a cheater/scripter.

Everyone complains if they get shot down by someone who fires very fast. I do as well. Point is the pistol does alot of damage, and after I've seen some Quake 3 Strafe jump movies, and people finishing Quake in 12 mins... I can also imagine someone having a pretty spastic triggerfinger so he can fire incredibly fast <img src='http://www.natural-selection.org/forums/html/emoticons/wink.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wink.gif'>

I hate scripts. Takes a signifigant amount of skill out of the game. Also, you can make them fire how ever many shots you want, however most people, I believe, tend to make them use the full 10 shots.

in fact i skimmed your post, i only brought ti back so i can bring up my problem with the nano- if Supernron wasnt there then who was that on AIM last night harrasing me and callnig me a cheater? they claimed to be supernorn, if he wasnt there i said prove it he said he was there and that i WAS in fact banned from all "his" servers, now enough flaming over the forums if you want to settle this we can finish it on AIM

Some people are too quick to say
"Cheater!"
All I use anymore is my pistol, my LMG is my back up wep, so I get flamed as a cheater alot also.

Had a guy last night calling another player on the other team a cheater because he was killed 3 times in a row by the same Skulk.
It depends alot on the server, and the people. I got 10 bite kills in holo room yesterday (I'm not braging) in about 3 mins. No one called me anything, why, because the server I was playing on, alot of the people knew me. Never let someone get on your nerves for something stupid!
