How Do I Use Switches As Comm?

<div class="IPBDescription">erm...</div> So... i heard that the Comm can open and close doors... use lifts...

How does this works? I see that if i move my pointer on a door or on a switch it changes but if i press a mouse button nothing happens....

    I think that the feature is a bit bugged. Sometimes it works sometimes not, I usually just click madly for a short period, it actually works from time to time. <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->

    Aye, its a bit bugged. Some doors I've just not been able to get to work. Also if its a lift/elevator, just clicking on the lift usually gets it to work. I crushed an Onos once with the tilted door to Engine Hive on Bast with that once <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->

    Take your mouse either over the door or switch until a different icon shows up, then click it. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. Easy ones are the bast turntable door at the rine start and the main aft junction engine door. Some switches are commander only (IE: Tanith research labs switch, there's one north of it, not able to be touched by marines, but by the comm it is)and some are accessable by marines as well, They're mostly doors tho.

    To open a door as comm:
    Get some food....er a fellow marine teamate to go near the door, and then click the door.
    It should open.

    The magic trick to opening doors is not to press your use key, or click on the button, but to DOUBLE CLICK on the door/lift/elevator itself.
    I'm trying to find my old post on what can and can't be moved in the current maps....

    This is what I've got to work so far:

    Map: Bast, the wide door below the lift at marine spawn is easy. I've yet to get the lift to work. The rotating door works. The lift that runs parallel to tram tunnel works, the door to engine hive works, the lift between water treatment and main aft works. The little hatch door next to the res node that aliens start with in refinery will open, but I can't get it to close (can't remember if I have succeeded or not).

    Tanith: the lift between chem transport and acidic solution works. The doors to cargo can also be opened by double clicking.

    Hera: After welding, you can open/close the security doors near reception. Cargo lift works. Unsure on the doors around cargo, but I believe they work.

    Nancy: I have yet to get ANY door to open on nancy, regardless of switch or just the need to be "used" to open

    Nothing: quadlift, the lift next to it, and the lift in generator all can be raised/lowered by the comm. Also, I believe the 2 doors near powersilo can be opened/ closed as well as the door near generator.

    Eclipse: Nothing can be opened or closed.

    Caged: Shipping tunnel door can be opened/closed. Good to test if gorge has blocked it. I believe the door airlock style doors can be opened, but I'm not 100%. I usually don't use it when commanding. <!--QuoteEnd--></td></tr></table><span class='postcolor'><!--QuoteEEnd-->

    Not all doors are supposed to be clickable by the commander. The thing is, the cc is supposed to be a part of the ship/building structure. Hence, you have map at all <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo--> Some things have not been infected with bacteria enough and the commander can use them some are out of touch with the original system. Now this is also just lazy mappers that did not insert any clickables in their maps ... <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->

    And to use it to crush an onos, that is one of the ideas of it being there. And it takes some skill and luck to pull it off as well.

    OMG that happened to me once lol. The onos was chasing me and I was Running/ Jet packing as fast As I could. My jp ran out of charge near a door. Suddenly It started to close. I was like NOOOOOO.

    The comms voice suddenly comes on.
    "Run Davis you can make it!"
    I get in right before door closes. I look behind and the Onos was crushed!

    Man it was really cool. I was like "TY COMM YOU ARE GOD!"

    mean while the Onos player respawned and he was cursing and swearing for the next 5 min. Until the admin told him to shut up. <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo--> Oh How I love this game.
