For 'The Driver' level: If he gets ahead of you, quit and restart the mission. There is no way you will catch up. If possible time your save so that you will play during the day and in dry weather.

for the driver get the car dealership and complete the lists so you get the hotring racer. Then park it by the police station near the malibu(any closer and it will dissapear) and do the mission the just driver to your super fast car get in and try to get ahead.

Its not to hard to beat him legit, the car you get is actually faster then his but takes longer to accellerate, plus the Sabre Turbo is easy to flip on sharp turns.

The Checkpoint Charlie mission is just annoying

Once you get all the men together the Bank Robbery mission is really fun!

I beat everything in the game except that damned mission. It's incredibly hard.

Want the best hint? DON'T USE CHEAT CODES! Using them only takes time that you would be using to increase your speed. Plus it also steers your car away from the line you want to use. If you can just bump him around a bit.. maybe push him off to another street.

The boatyard mission is a royal pain. Worst mission of the game, way too hard. Basically if you don't nail every single jump exactly perfect, hit escape and reload... :/

Aye. That thing took me a week.

My game is buggered, and I can never beat the driver mission (he always ends up the winner, or dead, even if I never flipped his car).

Well he's not much use to you dead is he?! He is meant to be a getaway driver for you!

Yes. That's why the mission's buggered.

Heh I sorta cheated when I raced that guy. What I did was switch to my m4 rifle before I walked on the mission pad, then proceeded with the mission. Then when the count down starts I keep pressing my enter/exit car button and right when the round starts I jumped out quickly aimed at the back of his car and blew out the left tire, jumped back in and flew past him as he ran into the buildings. I did this on the computer, so It might be kinda hard to aim really fast using the joystick on the ps2.

Yeah, I got lucky when the AI ran towards a wall and got spun around, and never really recovered.

Yeah, I just beat him fair and square. Took me three tries but it wasn't THAT hard - as soon as you can pull ahead of him (and it's not that hard once you get to a good straightaway), all you've got to do is dodge the cops and you're homefree. Don't know what you nubs are having such trouble with.

Checkpoint Charlie is pretty aggravating, I admit. I recommend using the Fastest Boat instead of that other one. If you've already done all the other speedboat missions (the one for Diaz and the one for the other Cubans), though, it shouldn't seem that bad. Just don't mess up.

Vice City still has much better missions then GTA III, in which EVERY other mission has some kind of insane timer on it. My god that was annoying. I got up to the part where you had to drive that guy to the airport (across the map) in something like 1:30 with a 4 star police rating or something.

You could always use a trainer from Codename: Vice which can stop the timer for the boat mission at least. As for the car mission, I think it took me something like 3 tries, but the only way to win is to get him to crash into anything near the beginning of the race.

Hehe, that was fun. The best way is to take a shortcut through the subway tracks.

Vice got boring for me. Well, so did Gta3, but...meh. I havent played it for like 2 months, so I picked it up again yesterday. I thought that it might be fun to just drive around on bikes for a while, but even that was boring.

It basically comes down to who makes the fewest mistakes. If you cut your corners tightly and avoid ramming into obstacles, you'll win. If you can't drive that well (which means near perfectly), you'll have to rely on him making mistakes. Also, the guy has abandonment issues; you could try driving in the other direction to make him break down emotionally.
Otherwise, just play Vice City for a few months straight (like me), and you should have the l337 skillz to beat him in two or three tries. Ok, enough bragging.

the game sucks without cheats, i never did any missions, my brother did, we won the game i havent touched it for about 5 months mabye even more because it was such a horrible game.

Oh please, for the sake of the poor guy seeking help, edit that post. It's bound to enrage someone, and then we have another flame war and another thread locked. I tackle games I consider to suck by avoiding them and all topics relating to them.

My recommendation is perseverance (sp?). Try it a few times, if he still beats you, try ramming him into tree's and such.

Vice City beats a lot of games that are considered top 10 right now.
• p4Samwisep4Samwise Join Date: 2002-12-15 Member: 10831Members
Vice City is beyond a doubt the best game I've spent $50 on in recent memory. Possibly ever, in fact.

If you use cheats, of course, it'll be boring, but otherwise there's just so much to do that I find it hard to believe you could get tired of it in less than a couple of weeks of frequent play. The missions are by and large pretty darn fun, finding unique jumps is hugely satisfying, doing the rampages is nice if you're into random killing, there's tons of random races all over the place that are all very fun (I usually find racing games pretty dull, but the setting makes them really fun in VC), and if nothing else you can just laugh your **** off at KCHAT and VCPR.

Indeed, Vice City pwns.

I love it cause I abso-friggin-loutely LOVE the movie Scarface, and so of course I loved some of the Scarface-inspired scenarios. I also just love VRock.

I bought the VROCK CD and play it in my car. Blurring the line between game and reality just a bit...

Well that car mission took me about 5 tryes. When the race started, I just drived next to him and pushed him of the road.
That's it. And if I just stayed on road and didn't hit the cops, I won easily. That mision was so great, that I loaded my game 3 times (even when I passed it) and did that mission over and over again.

VC is the best game I have played in long time. My favourite vehicles were PJC 600 and helicopter. It was so fun to dodge cars while driving full speed with PJC 600.

But I do have small problem with VC. I dont know how the game ends. I have completed all the missions and bought all buildings (and passed all the missions at them too), but nothing happens. I just run around the map, I dont get any new missions or can't find any structures to buy anymore.

you must have absolutely everything bought, and mainly, the MONEY PRINTING WORKS done. Then, when you have done everything you get a call from the printing works (from the old guy) telling you to come there soon... if I told you why, it'd be a spoiler

I just picked this game up last night as my regular "end of the semester" game purchase. I'm so glad I did.

The driving controls take a bit to get used to but I've just been driving around trying to find all the jumps
I haven't progressed much but I did get to hunt down the pizza delivery guy He got stuck on the side of a stairway and just spun his wheels. I spent the next 20 mins trying to ram any vehicle I could get my hands on, over the wall and onto his moped. Started with a corvette--no luck. Then I got smart and tried a jeep--just bounced off. Finally, I found a big bronco--success! I pushed him out and proceeded to beat him with some cop's night-stick

Good times.

You can make GTA 3 a little bit fun for 2 days with adding mods for it which can be found here

yeah, i cheated on the the driver mission, i edited the car stats to what was a bloodring racer. not proud of it but the guy did nothing in the actual bank mission! that made me mad lol. im now at a problem in the game, ive done all the missions i think, and im just picking up the hidden packages and stuff like that. im getting major money because i have all the assets in the game. they need some way of centralizing the money because its a pain to pick it up everyday. to anyone that actually beat the game: is there one big blow up mission ? and when does it happen?
