<div class="IPBDescription">changing block size</div> Right lets start at the beginning, I got my new 115 gig hard drive installed and formatted (using the xp setup to format it with ntfs), however it was running a little slowly, and after chatting to a few people I realised that my block/cluster size has been set to 512 bytes. Anyway I put up with a slow system as I don't care too much about load or install speeds, had everything working fine, until i tried to install visual studio 6, it forced an install of the microsoft java virtual machine, at which point both cheating death and steam stopped working, steam fails in a number of ways I don't want to go into now, and cheating death causes an error with half life whenever it runs at the same time as half life. Does anyone have a solution to this?
Anyway I've decided to reformat, easier than trying to solve the problems, and I thought it would be a good idea to change my block size, I've only got the windows xp install disk for formatting a drive as NTFS, how do I set it to a 4kb block size, or is there another program which will do this for me (I'm a student and therefore it needs to be either free or very very cheap)?
