after installing ns, i played it with my voodoo3 and the gfx obviously sucked.
when i quit the game, my screen was really bright. now i cant use any other driver for my gfx card apart from the win xp suggested one which doesnt work with games. the drivers that used to work just make the screen go all bright. just wondered if any1 else had a similar problem??

Should be in tech support but nvm.

I get the exact same problem if half life ever crashes. The computer (this is my theory) forgets to change the hl gamma (usually higher than desktop) back to desktop gamma. At the moment the only solution I can offer is just to restart or update your drivers.

The NS team included a little program to fix it in the installer. Look for resetgamma.exe in your NS directory.

(this is in response to Jay123 - the other issue sounds like something more complicated)

Sounds like a driver problem, you might want to try a different driver from www.guru3d.com (downloads, video drivers, 3dfx). 3Dfx has no "offical" winxp drivers but you can use some of those home made ones. Make sure you're using Opengl (or glide if you want) as the mode and probably a low resolution (at least 800x600 or lower).

As for gamma you can use a program like Powerstrip to change gamma back to normal without rebooting or the program in the ns folder.

Well, I'm not on my computer right now so I can't try it but thanks! Do you run it once or whenever the high gamma on the desktop occurs?

You run it whenever the gamma is messed up.

    quic explenation of resetgamma

Flayra came up with an idea that (I believe) he calls over brightening, it is not actualy gama persay. Basicaly it is one of the little things that makes NSs feel so cool

however there is some sorta problem (generaly when a CTD occures) and thats the point of the progie.

UK, have you tried the reset gama progie?
