BAAAAHHHH, I forgot that thursdays are my day off. That means I won't be sharing with you, cause I'll be playing....... hehehe, I have access to a few remot file servers though, I can kill their uploads while THEY'RE at work
While I'm all for people sharing files in general, I think your safest bet will be to download from one of our official mirrors. I'd hate for a virus or trojan horse to make a big mess of it all.
See, with BitTorrent, all files are authenitcated by the torrent file offically released. So if NS offically released a torrent, theres no chance of it containing a virus, and it would still offer blazing fast P2P :-)

o well on the first day its out im gonna be playing on whatever servers will have it but those pplz who need it more than me go on kazaa and dl it p.s if u cant find me its cause i use kazaa lite K++ and it blocks most kazaa connections.....

Shouldn't be too bad, then. And for you geniuses with kazaa who are worried about viruses, I suggest enlightening yourself on today's lesson.
::START LESSON::
Hello boys and girls. Today we're going to talk about viruses. Viruses are bad, Mmmmkay? So, to stop Viruses, we used what is called an Anti-Virus. Now, since we have this neat little program like kazaa that lets us download anything you've ever heard of or had the time to think about, why don't we download ourselves a fresh copy of Norton Antivirus 2003 Professional with a free complimentary one year subscription to virus updates. That way we can get rid of all those nasty viruses, Mmmmkay? Remember, boys and girls, be safe, not stupid!! <!--emo&::marine::--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/marine.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='marine.gif'><!--endemo-->
::END LESSON:: <!--QuoteEnd--> </td></tr></table><span class='postcolor'> <!--QuoteEEnd--> Please stop being so negative, not everyone is as aware as us. People still download and execute file attachments sent via email. Its not because they are stupid, its because they are ignorant and telling them they are stupid is not going to fix their problem. So why don't you try and help the process instead of throwing up some impediments.
A bunch of us testers have organized our own Bit Torrent server, yes, it took some work, but we got it running, with many thanks to cri and Thief! We will be releasing it via BT as our own link, to ensure there is a bit torrent link that isn't chock full of viruses <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->

Any bittorrent not served off an official page is suspect, just like any other download type. Even then, sometimes you have to wonder about some official places...
Didnt read all of it ... but wouldn't it be better to suggest sharing it in the clan, ie. most clans at least have a few guys on cable, have them download it first and then distribute it to the rest, this way a load of players would not be on the main servers hogging the lines ... though I suspect this isn't avoidable either way.
Sharing on kazaa or overnet or whatever is a good idea, but as others undoubtaly have stated, WATCH OUT FOR TEH VIRUSSES. Update your virrusscanner before downloading anything like this from kazaa and make sure it's auto-checking (I'm not sure about other scanners, though I think most of them have like norton an auto-scan function to alert whenever a virus becomes active)
Dam doesnt any one read the paper. Right now the companies have been given permission to look on the comps of computers of kazaa users to sue them for copyright laws. This includes all copy righted material such as music, movies, and non-amature porn. They are mainly only targetting users with TONS of files for the time being. But take warning if your one of those users.
NS may be copyrighted but its free to begin with,(oo my illegal copy of hl though) so i dont think thats a problem.

The way bit torrent works is...while YOU download the file...YOU help distribute as you download it...so the more people join in the dowload the faster the speed of the download.
There will be no need for P2P, the amount of bandwidth we will be able to leech from will be practically unlimited. No queue's, hard links <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->
And you can get viruses from BitTorrent only if you're downloading a virus. It sounds weird, but it makes sense. If you have a torrent from a reputable source, you're ok. The problem with other P2p services like KaZaA is that anyone can host anyfile and call it anything. Bit Torrent restricts file access such that you need to find the file manually, allowing you to decide for yourself if the download is suspect.

Anyways, if you aren't a noob to the internet, you should know you should scan everything you download off the internet anyways.
