We love new maps! We have just finished our FUN map contest and it was a blast! But I know some mappers have spent alot of time on their maps and they never get played. Well heres your chance. Our server generally stays full because of the new maps we try. Fun maps or serious maps, we are always looking for new ones. We just got bored with the 7 offical maps. Alien is a great movie, but how many times can you watch it without getting bored?
So with the release of 2.0 coming on July 30th for the server files and July 31st for the client files, we will be setting aside July 29th and July 30th for just UNOFFICAL SERIOUS MAPS. Yep, thats right! No siege or FUN maps. Heres your chance to get yours played. There are some rules though. Here they are:
#1 We will accept only 12 maps. 10 of them will be the first 10 submitted in this post. The other two will be set aside for Ollj and ChromeAngel. They each have 1 reserved map spot. Why? Because without their help I would have never been able to make a map.
#2 Your map must be in working order with all the needed files. Including a .res file. Dont know how to make a .res file? I will include a link to one at the end of this post. Download it, open it with notepad or some other word editor and rename it to your map name. If you mess it up, I will fix it, just as long as you try.
#3 Only 1 map per mapper!
#4 Sometime on July 30th, when I get the 2.0 release, I will be pulling the maps off the server. So they will not run for a full 48 hours, just until I can get my hands on 2.0.
#5 If I put your map on our server and it crashes or dose not run correctly, it will be yanked off the server and the next map, #11, will be added. So make sure your map is in working order. You only get one chance.
That means if you see 10 maps submitted here, still submit yours. If one of the 10 dosnt work, the next in line will get its spot. And just maybe we will add all the maps submitted to the server for the last day, July 30th. No promises, its alot of work for me to add all the maps to the server and rotation.
Why are we doing this? Its our way of saying thanks to all you mappers. Without you we would be stuck with just 7 maps to play. I dont think NS could survive on just 7 maps.

my res file looks like that, i have no idea what a res file is and how it works, but all files are included

create a file called ns_napo.res and put that inside:

but yeah i hope to update but the file location is dynamic so im just going witha brief case refrence...yeah
Confused, Im confused. this is your res file but in your map download you dont have any .mdl or .wav files. I looked for them in the b245 file in your briefcase and they are not there either. All I can find are the .bsp and .wad files.

Your map will not run without these files. It crashes the server. ns_confused_b246 has been pulled from the server. All the other maps run.
MOUSE, ns_hydrosity .res file was missing the .wad file. I fixed it and have it up. Add the line:
ns_hydrosity.wad
to your res file and it will be complete. Its a good idea to alwasy add a .res file to your map download. The server operator is more likely to add your map to his cycle if he dosnt have to write the res files. Less work for him. Thank you for trying!
Oh yeah, the maps are running now. Our current map cycle is in the first post. I just keep editing it.
