For those who have been Banned
In the spirit of 2.0 and new beginnings we have decided to offer a one-time blanket amnesty for all players who have visited our server since it was first started. NS is a new game and with that comes adjustment and frustration, everyone has been trying to learn the game, what to expect from it and servers. Undoubtedly there will be growing pains and mistakes will be made. Well, 2.0 is on its way out and it is time for a new start.
Starting now and through August 1:st, anyone who has been banned from [CoFR]FR31 NS can have their ban lifted if requested with no questions asked. All you have to do is go here and post your Name together with your WONID and a confirmation that you have read and agreed to follow the rules.
August 1:st all the wonids that have been posted correctly (ie: name+wonid+confirmation) will be removed from the banlist so that you can try out 2.0 on the server.
Of course the same rules that have applied before are in effect so if your opinion of how NS is to be played differs from them, do not apply to have your ban lifted, since you will most likely only be banned again. This is, however, a chance to get a clean slate.

GAMEPLAY - ASK before going GORGE or COM, no cheating, exploiting or
building in non-playable areas.
If you break any of these rules you will be BANNED, this is your warning.

Won't NS2 make that obsolete?
hmm not sure

Correct, that rule is rather redundant.
But in saying that, it is their server and they will do whatever the hell they like.

Yea, as gorges don't get bigger shares and thus don't get less res if more ppl gorge, there is no reason to stop ppl going gorge.
Actually, it might be difficult to get ENOUGH ppl to go gorge... 6 gorges at start in a 12v12 game might not be only ok, but might actually be better than fewer gorges.
You might want to ask before building the first of a new upgrade chamber though - the sensory chamber has been seriously upgraded, while carapace has been downgraded, so DMS isn't the only upgrade order anymore.

hopefully you wont need these rules either anymore, now that nancy has gone and that was the main culprit
The IP to the server is: 207.44.180.88:27015 it can be a bit hard to get into and reserve slots put you at constant risk of getting kicked. A tip is to download ns_lost, it tends to open up slots on the server

thats not exactly true. People tend to exploit on every map in some way and you can still build off the map in other maps.

Where the hell have I been....
I'm thinking it might be best if the gorge rule was replaced with something like "Coordinate alien evolution and upgrade chamber choices with your team." An alien team where everyone just randomly does stuff with no plan would be like a commander dropping random buildings and guns without a plan, IE a very good way to lose very quickly. Well, at least I hope 2.0 will be like that, I'd hate it if aliens could have a decent chance of winning without any coordinated strategy.
Well I've never seen clan stacking on that server, so it seems to work.
I'm off to S&I right now!

Well, that might sound like a good idea, but it does force the aliens into a single path right from the start. I really hope that the alien chamber choices will at least partially depend on what the marines are doing, for instance if they get MT early, you get sensory first to make use of the masking ability, etc..
Although I suppose a rule "communicate effectively with your team or die" seems a bit draconian.
I can dream can't I ?
Aww, the death animation is always so so sad.
God, this forum is crazy, posts can fall off the first page in a matter of hours during the busy times.

your better take your FlameProof2000 with you...
communication helps a great deal
you can say "OMG TH3Y 4R3 4LL H34D3D T00 V14DUC7!!!111!oneoone1eleven!!" and then all your team goes to viaduct and kills them. its not so much "communicate or die" but "communicate or lose"

Proper communication is a must tho, and no matter how fast you can type, using a mic is still better
Edit: z.x. bogglestiensky, considering the timestamps, this is almost ironic
Nearly every player on the server uses a mic. Then you have problems with too much communication, where everybody is talking at the same time. Sometimes using text is the best way to get your message across.
I do still use text binds to communicate my location, health/armor and resources, but for any game important communication, I use my mic. And unless its a silly game (read goofing around) I limit my vcomm'ing to serious matters.
