no video modes to choose from
i recently had a bad virus attack and had to format my HDs. i recently reinstalled HL and its updates and now when i run it, it says it does not support my video card in OpenGL. I know it does, been playing with it almost a year now. when i go into the video modes, OpenGl is the only one i have the option to choose from and software and D3D both do not have any options. anyone have any idea what is the problem? also it starts up in a windowed mode.

    mmmkay

    1) pull up the statr line that you use for HL/ns and remove -window (or something like that, should handel that one )

    2) Give us some (Like all) sys specs. Most important are Vidcard and OS.

    3) what Stryker said, update the vid card drivers

    gl and hit us back

Can you attach your DxDiag? Go to Start> Run and type DXDIAG, then click "Save All Information" when it's not greyed out anymore.

I had this exact problem. Anything opengl, like HL or the hammer editors viewports would fail to launch. It was solved by un installing the graphics card drivers and running a 3rd party program to remove the rest of them that was not removed by using the uninstaller and then restarting my computer and installing the drivers again. I was running xp home with a gf4 mx440 at the time.
