^This thing sounds like happiness in a box. It plays PC games, which are better, you don't have to install them like a console, which is better, it can be controlled with a mouse and keyboard, which is better, it can be upgraded, which is better, it hooks up to yer TV, which is better, it's got LAN support, which is great, it auto-updates your games, which is always nice, the higher end models come with stuff like move playing, music playing, and other stuff, which is great, and the whole thing is going to be cheaper than a PC! If they pull this thing off, I'm going to be happy. Won't buy it of course, since I've got my PC, but I'm going to be happy.

I hope they realize they will have to show that interview to every potential customer, because I had no idea why somone would make a cheap **** PC and pass it off as a console that can play...uh...PC games. Oh wait...I still dont

EDIT: These are the specs:
Higher-end units will feature specs such as: Intel D875PBZ Motherboard, Pentium 4, 3.2 GHz, 1 GB DDR PC3200, 52x24x52x16x CD-RW/DVD Combo Drive, Seagate Barracuda 120 GB HD, NVIDIA GeForce&153; FX 5900 Ultra 256MB 8x AGP w/DVI & S-Video, Creative Sound Blaster Audigy 2 Platinum - 6.1 w/Black Audigy 2 Drive.

So they plan on somehow making a top of the notch system for $300 with all these brand name parts? Aside from the obvious 'why?', it might be apropriate to ask 'how?'. Even wholesale cost on the Geforce FX 5900 alone is around $200, let alone a P4 and 1GB DDR.

Wow, if my dreams turned out to be half as good as these guys, I would be playing HL2 right now

Point. If it hooks up to your TV won't the games look terrible? AFAIK Standard TVs have a res of 320x240, plus the price is impossible, especially seeing as they won't be making any money of software sales like Sony etc. do (which is the reason they can sell the console for a loss). Sounds like an even more terrible idea than the phantom
EDIT: the entry level specs are 256 MB of memory, integrated 3D accelerator, a 1 GHz Pentium-class processor, 40 GB hard drive. To be honest it seems like they're targeting the standard Console gamer, who as a rule wouldn't know much about the recommended specs of a PC game. I can see people buying the "console" and trying to run games like Doom3 and HL2 and coming away disappointed with only getting 10 FPS. Basicly it's like a PC with limited capabilites but an easy interface. A good idea in practice, but the main draw of consoles isn't that you don't have to install, it's that you don't need to worry about upgrades and sysreqs etc.

the high end specs will be closer to $1000. its only the basic entry level system that will be for $300

I read tyhe artical and am stating that installing the games isn't the main problem that console gamers have with pc games. Most installs take about 3-5 click and your done. The problems arise when you're sysspecs arn't compatible or you dont meet the reqs to play the game smoothly. This won't solve them that much

Haha, whoops. Crap. I read your "isn't" as "is."

I think you're right, except I'm sure there is a percentage of people who just can't be bothered with all that "hitting next" crap. They manage to screw up their computer with downloaded programs and stuff, so the console is just hassle free.

Can you say INDREAMA?

If you can't, it was designed to be a off-the-shelf Linux run gaming PC. The project died after naming 2 titles and spending millions. The system there is at least $1400 dollars worth of parts, maybe $1000 wholesale. I can understand taking a loss on the console, (hoping to establish a userbase large enough to bring in software revenue), but that would be ridiculous.

Hmm... why is it GameShark in the interview, instead of InterAct.
