<div class="IPBDescription">Eh, so maybe I'm easy to excite.</div> SUPER COOLLLL!!!!!!! first time I've ever seen a NS 2.0 server in the list. Theres the new variable, killdelay.....and whats that easteregg variable? and we see a new version... 2.0za#2, lol
killdelay adds a short delay between hitting "/kill" and actually suiciding. It was put in place to prevent players from killing themselves the moment before they were fragged, to deprive the enemy of the bounty bonus res.
And I've heard rumors of some significant differences in the "2.0za experimental" build. I doubt there would be radical gameplay changes made this close to release, so if the rumors have any merit it probably has more to do with nifty features. Maybe an improved marine minimap, complete with overhead MT blips? Your guess is as good as mine, but if any surprises were meant then it would explain why the beta forum was cloaked.
This was posted on another topic, but due to obvious reasons it was deleted.
easteregg=skulks are replaced with scorpions that er... hovar w/o flapping. the chance means the percent chance per game of this happening, *0.1 (=5=5/1000 chance of easter egg happening).
eh... this'll probably get deleted as well.. after all it is an easter egg.

By July we all thought we knew all there was to know about Natural Selection.
Then, a few mere weeks before release, someone slipped up in IRC and mentioned some unheard of thing called "babblers".
We were puzzled.
"What's a Babbler?" we asked
"Uh, it's what the PTs have been calling batty recently. Yea. That's it" was that IRC denzien's reply.
We were satisfied, until someone else slipped up in the forums, and the cat was out of the bag. The gorge had this sweet "babbler" ability, where skulks came out of his mouth to devour, leap, and xenocide his foes. A tight-lidded secret that might have been kept all te way up to release (or NDA lift).
Bilebomb was much the same, but we just were never told it's function, we knew it existed. I'm pretty sure none of us thought it was a 200lb acid-filled ziplock bag (as it was originally intended for the lightweight batty... er... Lerk).

It determined the random chance of the hive saying those funny quotes, such as
"Now we donce!!" (and yes it is an o, not an a) "We need better players." "This place is a mess." "I see dead people" "This is my hive. There are many like it, but this one is mine"
I believe that's the complete list. They're files in your ns directory under sounds/ambience, i believe. I've only heard the first 3 actually in game. The last 2 I've never heard short of actually playing the files.
<thanks for ruining my fun <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->>
It's actually under sound/hud, by the way. I've never heard any of those except for the Donce one and "this place is a mess". A number of the hive sounds in there aren't in the game; I'm curious why the hive complete ones aren't being used.
So(I know this has been asked before, but I'm hoping there is a more definate answer now) does anyone know what exactly triggers those sayings? And I've only ever heard "Now we donce!!" and "This place is a mess." Never heard any of the otherse :-(
This place is a mess = when you're screwed up the butt <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->
Donce is when you get 3 hives... The others i'm not telling <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->.
"We need better players" I've heard once. Most of the team had died in one massive skulk rush on the marine base. I think it triggered because everyone had died within a few seconds of each other.
"This is my hive, there are many like it, but this one is mine" Damn hard to get this one, I've never actually heard it. If my sources are corrent however it occurs when a gorge kills a marine in a hive room and then immediatly builds the hive. Sort of like the gorge claiming the hive.
"I see dead people" can trigger when you're waiting to spawn back in I believe. I don't know what the governing variable is.
