after seeing the trailer
is it just me or are the xhairs a bit huge ?? i mean seriously come on , who wants some giant blue circle of doom obscuring your screen. Admittedly some people may like it, ive seen some custom xhairs with like super huge giant circles and if that kinda thing floats yer boat then fine, but for me nono. personally (some call me crazy) i like the current crosshair. its fine, small and generally contrasting (although i would like my old ever-changing cs xhair back). So, would there be a way to use the current 1.04 xhair in 2.0 ??

And Torgo, he's creating a discussion, not moaning.
And yeah I'd imagine taking the old sprite files from 1.04 and replacing them would work.
Ditto. I can't imagine why anyone would play NS in that resolution. Look at the size of the kill messages.
I figure in 1024x768 everything will look fine.
almost all of the first person shots were filmed within HLTV, therefore it shows the spectator xhair (a small white star looking xhair) instead of the norm. It looked dumb with the star xhair, and I didn't want people getting the impression that this star xhair was official. So i had to embed the normal xhairs over it, and i guess i didn't resize it quite right to its normal size.
Oh and you can easily do so by copying the old .txt files from the sprite folder which are named weapon_***.txt
I'll try the new ones (I like how the LMG looks) but you can always change.
This is true, consistency also still allows to replace your muzzleflash sprites with the crosshair sprite making them effectively invisible Not that I'd know about that of course, ahem.
And Yes, they probably are from a low resolution; hense they will seem very big on low resolution.
I couldn't play at 800x600, my eyes would start to bleed or something. The menu is bad enough. So I don't think I'll be having any trouble with the crosshairs with 1600x1200. And I can always replace them with the old one, like someone said above. Many times
end of problem.
Actually, we complained alot about the crosshairs. They've been sized down and made more transparent.
for those of u who would like to change the xhairs i will say how,get the following programs spritewizard and sprview with those in mind go to a good paint program and draw up your crosshair however the hell u want to and save it as a 256 color bmp file now go to sprite wizard and find your bmp file and save it as a sprite in ns/sprites folder you can give it whatever filename you want but its ezer to manage it if you save it as something ez to remember like crosshair.spr, now with that done go to sprview and check out how it looks,if it looks fine on to the next step.
Go your ns/sprites folder and find the notepad file of the gun you want to give the crosshair to for example if u wanted to only change the lmg crosshair you would put the name of your file E.G. i made mine C.H. so if i wanted to i would change the lines where is said crosshair to C.H. DO NOT DELETE THE NUMBERS 640 or 320 THEY ARE CRUCIAL ALSO MAKE SURE U HAVE PROPER SPACING AND ALL THE NUMBERS ARE THE SAME BECAUSE IN 2.0 THEY WILL PROBOBLY CHANGE ALSO DO NOT PUT .spr INTO THE FILE.save the file and go into the game....If u wanted this crosshair u gotta do alot of editing...

i run ns at 1600x800 in direct3d and the HL-default crosshairs look like 3 tiny pixels
so for me the new crosshairs will be perfect
