<div class="IPBDescription">camo ?</div> im in a posting mood atm so i thought id try something i thought of last night. quite probably been discussed loads or something like that but anyway.
Without seeming to cs-like i thought it would be nice to have some small distinctions within the armour of an alien or a marine which is a chosen colour. like cs has the 4 different skins for both ct and t , how about niches in the armours of ns have hints of red blue green and yellow ?? or maybe just an overall tint on the model ??
It may even help with the believablity of the ns universe ?? its not often you see a whole army of a race which is perfectly identical in every detail. Surely the kharaa would have different broods with seperate colouring for distinction, and TSA with different sections and their own colours. (without trying to seem too 40k-like). but thats kinda what this is starting to feel like. the general modeling is a cross between starcraft and 40k , which isnt a bad thing. its just, in those 2 there were more defining attributes towards the models which just added a nice touch imo.
anyway, its something to ponder on and discuss maybe ??

so for aliens, the different colours could symbolise different specialisations.
for marines maybe different branches of the TSA or again specialisations. you dont see the royal artillery wearing same as Para's
For aliens, on the one hand, I can imagine different colors... After all, not all dogs are black. However, they are all being produced, en masse, by one (to three) hives, with a severe "hive" mentality, which shouldn't allow such hideous deviations. Note that you don't see purple bees. I don't imagine that gorges evolved form skulks dropped by one hive would plop down a purple hive that produces purple skulks instead of the old skulks.
Also, gameplay > realism, so you dont need plausable explainations for different colours.....
Heres a pretty good model-in-development by commandox20: <a href='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/index.php?act=ST&f=19&t=38598' target='_blank'>Female Marine Model</a>
It would be interesting to see what the dev team have in mind.
Well with my idea it would onlt have to load one lot at a time anyway <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->

...Everyone in Off Topic knows I'm weird, you guys might as well too.
Red marines vs Green Marines. Orange Aliens Vs Yellow aliens. I like it. But I think in normal MvA this isn't really needed for marines, but it can work for the aliens. <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->
