Ever since the latest HL patch, F1 and F2 have been coded to use some of the new HL stuff thats planned for the future (like the in-game messaging feature). There is a way around this, but for now I can't for the life of me remember what...
Oh oh wait, I think you re-name gameUI.dll in the valve/cl-dlls folder.

F1 and F2 Binding Problem =================== To be able to bind your F1 and F2 keys: Go to your Half-Life (or Counter-Strike Retail) directory, open the "valve" folder, open the "cl_dlls" folder, and rename the file "GameUI.dll" to something else (i.e. "GameUI.bak"). You should be able to bind your F1 and F2 keys again.
... thanks.. but i alreayd know how to bind... im wondering why i cant open the ps editor ingame, why it finds the ps and says 1 second later it cant find it

I'll have to keep this stuff in mind when I get around to PS editing.

he wants to know why his f4 is working, instead everyone tells him about f1 and f2? people should read posts more carefully =D he doesnt want to join a team, he wants to edit his ps's in-game. Maybe this is more of a NSTR problem forum post than a mapping forum post, but if anyone can help this guy you should.

The only way to be able to bind them is to do what he just said.
Alternatively, you could bind another key to the team joins. I think they're jointeamone and jointeamtwo
Oh joy.

WHY DOES IT DO THAT, I DONT CARE ABOUT F1 AND F2

So, yeah, binding keys to join teams IS pretty useful in this case.
