    As Far as I remember the only shotgun change is that is does a little more or less damage and it functions more like an automatic shotgun.

    Much increased ROF, apparently the new shotty is to the old as the xm1014 is to the M3 in counter-strike.

    It is also cheaper as well. I can see the shotgun getting used much more in 2.0

    well any commander who doesn't drop shotguns will be shooting himself in the foot. I've seen more onii die to shotguns than hmg or gl in the recent versions. Thats not saying its overpowered, just that its ideally suited to hitting large, slow aliens.

    The xm104 was an incredibly powerful close range weapon in CS. In the hand sof a noob it could still inflict grevious damage.

    Will this be the case in 2.0? If so, wouldn't the skulks get pwned?

    I'd assume not. As if you don't take down the skulk, you probably won't get a 3rd shot at most.

    Speaking of the shotgun, I had great fun with it last night. I joined midgame on ns_nothing, and we had a newbie comm. So we had no hives locked down and no upgrades at all. So I ran around for awhile and tried to find out what the aliens were up to. They had Viaduct, and Power Silo was coming along very quickly. So after dying a few times, I respawned and asked for a jetpack and heavy machine gun. I wasn't expecting anything, but a JP was dropped at my feet. And then a shotgun. I've never used JP/Shotgun before, and shotgun has only ever been effective in my hands at the very beginning of the game - one hit kills. So I flied off to Power Silo and saw the first skulk in my path. I should make it clear here that I'm awful at firing with a JP/HMG - I panic, I fly around madly and just spray. So I took deep breath, flew forward along the corridor and fired a quick shot as I went straight over the skulks head. I landed, spun around and went head-on again like a jousting knight. Straight over the skulk - bang - dead alien. It was FUN. But it didn't stop there, as I went to Silo, killing a skulk and the gorge on the way. The Silo hive was still being built, and I'm afraid I still don't know how they take damage when under construction. o_O So I sat underneath it and started putting shotgun rounds in to it. Everytime a skulk came, I flew up to the darkness and easily out-maneuvered the mouldy dogs. The hive made it's plop noise, came down, and I put another round in to it - where it promptly died. And with that, I successfully ramboed a hive without getting hit once. All with a jetpack, a shotgun, unupgraded armour/weapons, and no med or ammo packs. I reinstate - it was AMAZING FUN.

    It's a shame that I only discovered the beauty of a JP/Shottie combo two days before it changes in to an auto-shotgun. =\ I'm going to miss the finesse of it.

    The shotgun is a lil quicker, still requires the same skills, and may have it's damage tweaked down a BIT. Its basically the same old shotty at 6 less resources to get. Trust me you will be seeing these used in many strats especially those involving very early rushes.

    Will it be classed as the n00b weapon like the auto shotty in cs??
    But nah i reckon the coolness factor of a shotty is so much higher than the hmg that was so heavily used in 1.04.
    If it becomes cheaper i will request it oh so much more.

    Wait - wasn't 2.0 supposed to reduce those crazy "game over in 2 minutes" rushes?

    It's not full auto. It's not entirely fast at all.

    Yea its slightly faster, it is still a pump shotgun... who started this thing with it being a full auto shottie? I will kill the man!

    I would also like to state the fact that the jetpack hmg will no longer be so effective... in 2.0 the jetpack will only allow people with hmgs to go 2 times as fast. (and 2x the hmg walking speed = slow <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo--> ) yay for this change. no more supersonic hmgs.
    But the shotgun movement speed is alot faster so shotgun + jetpack may be used more for speed.

    I suggested the idea, then the vetrerans* said "yea, it is faster". Then the neublets said "OMG! T3h Auto-Shottie!"
