While i am well aware that new maps have been added and old maps improved upon, could someone enlighten me to the fate of ns_bast? Pardon me if i'm wrong, but I don't seem to hear much about it, nor have I detected any mention of it from my limited knowledge of the changelogs.

So... that's where it stands. The map plays great and is far better off than 1.0, but it will seem visually very similar, unlike most other 1.0 maps that were reworked quite a bit. Which is probably ok, as many players never got much chance to play bast in the old version due to high resource utilization on servers....
On a side note...RIP ns_nancy. You will not be forgotten, nameless hive... <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/sad.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad.gif'><!--endemo-->
In 1.04 it tended to crash quite a bit too only because if rines stuffed up a jp rush they would mine the base till it crashed.

The games of sensory first on Hera hiding above the reception elevator with full cloak (1.0, 1.01 etc) - now that was golden <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->
Bast honestly didn't need much work (for pub play). Marine spawn was just to vulnerable, as long as that is addressed bast should become as popular as it was in the early days of NS (it was very popular <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->).
First of all i must say that PLEASE don't misinterpret my comment, because there is not even a bit of sarcasm on it, but people don't know how to make SECURITY BACKUPS or what? Sincerely, if I had enough brain (and pacience <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo--> ) to make a NS map (don't necessary need to be official, but if it's official, i would care about it much more..), i would make a backup of it EVERY DAY (on a CD-RW), and a security backup of an important version every week or so (on a CD-R)
I'm not critisizing the map makers, but with 3 awesome maps lost by drives crash (nancy, bast and another i can't remember now...), i think that there must be much more attention to the security and backup of them....I hope that my advice don't fall in a broken coat... <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->
Yes, we no longer allow mappers (or any developers working on anything) to submit finished work without including source. It then gets backed up in offsite storage.

Nice to know <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.natural-selection.org/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo--> I hope that no more maps get lost by accident <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.natural-selection.org/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->

okay, so it's in for 2.0?

YES! Man I'd be really depressed if bast was out, it's always been my favorite NS map...
I liked those maps <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/sad.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad.gif'><!--endemo-->

I'm gonna keep a copy of Nancy anyway... There's not really anything stopping a server from running it as a 'custom' map, right? <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->
Uhm... I think it's been said a million times that nancy's source is lost, so it cannot be tweaked for 2.0 gameplay...

I hope it wont be cut out from the next version (not 2.0) since the source is lost, if there will be another version..
Don't worry, it's creator 'Devildog' is working on his next NS masterpiece even as we speak.

Couldnt Devildog use winbsp, fix the miss aligned textures and corrupt brushes, and then recompile it?
IT would take some work, but it *would* be possible, if he REALLY wanted to do it.
I hope Devildog's new map comes soon...
