<div class="IPBDescription">Why Is This Ugly?</div> I just got back from my first game of ns2.0 and i played ns_veil. I'm trying to figure out how this map was made an offical map. It looks the same every where, and the brush work... omg wth!?!? I lost count of how many times the onos has to crouch to get through a tight hall way that slopes up. When there are maps like ns_atomicmass out there... how does veil make it into the mod?... And.. how did you manage to play NS2.0? You do realise that with 1.0 they tracked everyone that played it before release that wasn't a playtester and hardcoded a ban in for them?
Rick, since we both know neither of us can play the real NS 2.0, you were either playing the Dedicated server as a client, which barely works, or you were playing on 1.04. 2.0 has had stuff put in to avoid the onos getting stuck eveywhere and different hitboxes, 1.04 doesn't.

and veil was.. well.. not so.
I expected more from the sequal to Eclipse...

Btw EVERY ns maps uses repetive textures.
Theres stuff like "4 mb texture limit" and "one themed atmosphere"
you brought nothing constructive in this thread so how about some SUYF.

And some of Ricks newer maps are damn cool.
Don't judge people by their maps when they blatently admit to the maps being ****
I hope you know what this means. Also, I don't know about the this version, but in the last dedicated server files on ns 1.0 they made it crash on purpose.
Please take screen shots, as none of us really belive anything you're stating.
But actualy i havent the 2.0 server(in 10 min i have it) because of that i wont comment on the maps. but after the screenshots i saw until now.. jea well, i say nothing.
But i want that ns2.wad.. :-) i want it..
Ofcourse eclipse textures can get boring quick but using tons of different textures it not the strength of a good eclipse map. (thats why we all love eclipse textures in custom maps.)
Its the gameplay, atmosphere and ballancing.
And the way theese rather simple textures are used in the good architecture with its lightning is just perfect.
This is not a version 2.0, this is a version 1.1 beta. Except all will be better with the client update. Ok I AM nitpicky, but I would have called it a good sign if NS looked more tidied up after a year of further development. Heck, its better than 1.0, where they left in an entired different model that wasn't used at all.
Look for it. Its v_lvl4 I think... Ya.. the fades look thing. It was later replaced by 2 seperate models for the cannon and arms, and then 1 model for both in 1.1. Anyways, v_lvl4 is the old fade view model. It had tentacles, not blady, spiky things... Be happy.
Things are pretty much tied up. There is nothing it doesn't need (hud sounds, extra fonts, the skyboxes, commander mode) and everything it does need. Its tied up pretty well
