2.0 Ctd Problems

<div class="IPBDescription">Crashing to Desktop</div> Well, 2.0 took some getting used to, but now that I'm over the "handicap" of having gotten used to the old version, only one problem remains in my way of enjoying it compleatly:

After a round or two, once we've been returned to the RR, it crashes flat out to the desktop. I pull up the task manager and it still shows the engine in the processes, but I can't restore it.


System: [no changes since I set it up]
Vid Card: Nvidia GeForce3 Ti 200 [Driver Ver:2.9.5.8][PCIB:1][IRQ:11]
Integrated sound card
AMD Athalon XP 1600+ [1.40 GHz]
256MB RAM
OS: XP Pro, w/SP1


So, any idea? I mean I experience no problems in the game at all, but usually the second round end it crashes.
[edit: oh yeah, I have Cheating Death active in the background]

Couple side notes:
1) I find my arm starts feeling funny after (at first an hour) progressivly shorter time periods... think that's carple?
2) Love the revisions, good work.

How long has a 'round or two' been? 15 minutes total? 30? Is it always the same length of time? When it goes to the desktop do you still see it on the taskbar?

Lessee.. to my recolection its not the length of the rounds, but the numbah of 2...

No, all but the cs.exe process disappear. No taskbar item, no taskmanager app item. (app tab basically being the taskbar anyway)

I haven't had it crash from the combat portion of the game yet... one would assume one of two things

a) its my system, likely cause I already had a different problem with HL [when I switch mods it says EVERY video mode and setting is incompatable] [and varying problems with outher FPS (A.McG's Alice has the health bar portion of the screen cut off, and Serious Sam doesn't even load)]

or

b) there's a problem in the coding, since it was always after 2 rounds (wether I joined at the end or begining of round one doesn't seem to matter) but one would think someone else would have had this problem reported by now...

Based on your other mod issues, I would recommend completely uninstalling (or renaming) your CS and mod files, and reinstalling CS, patching it with the full retail install, and then reinstalling NS.

Let us know how it all goes, and if it's still being odd after that we can talk more. It's not likely to be a code issue, to be honest, because we would have seen duplicate posts from other users.

yeah, strange thing is, I was just now playing, got at least 4 games, no crash...

And they were all hour+ games

so, deffinatly not a code issue... I'll just have to kill 90% of my background progs [only things that were going this time was AIM, and disabled norton auto-protect... killed the 2-3 other progs that usually sit in the icon tray...]

[an two of meh three examples were other FPS' entirely, not HL mods]

Yeah, I have the same thing, except I don't crash. When I spawn back in the ready room, all I see is black, and I can clearly hear the other players walking around. In some cases, all I needed to do was reconnect to the server and get back to playing. But sometimes I have to restart HL and maybe reboot. I'm also noticing some error messages from the console sometimes, saying something about a model being out of place or something about the animation acting weird. Need developer enabled for it to show, though.

Yeah, haven't posted here in months.
