Will ns have it?
Saturation of the NS community similar to what CS experienced after its retail release should be a concern on anyones mind that has any intention of taking NS seriously when it is released. Some would argue that NS should never go retail to avoid the same problems CS hs run into.
While this is a valid concern, at the same time we would also want to see developers/designers of NS profit from their time investment should the game turn out to be a real hit. I personally think that some sort of user or clan filtering server setting should be available to server admins to only allow certain people or groups of people to play, either from a registration database or a individually generated text file.
Possibly some sort of database clan support whereservers can opt out to only allow clan members or specific clans themselves from the database to play on their servers.
Example, in an NS database..
A Clan leader Joe registers as a "database member" then registers clan X in "the database"(because Joe wants to start a clan), registration of a clan name allows him to add/remove clan members fomr clan X via private web login and password.
For clan members, after registering with "the database" a user can browse the clan list and apply to any he/she wants. Applications via web form are sent to a message board style section of Clan X's private login section for Joe to approve or reject.
For servers, you could have a special setting such as -clansOnly or a seperate text file with a list of people/ clans who can have access.
WON ID's have to be involved in this somehow as well to prevent fraud, such as members WON ID's are used during registration in some way to prove that "You are who you say you are" Just an idea. There is a system like that that works flawlessly for a game called Uniball, clan support is something this world needs more of. Their main website is http://uniball-central.com but it's down at the moment.
Again, just an idea.

The problem with clans is that it's fun but after a while it gets kinda boring, I think cs suffers from 2 much clans.
There is also a fair cost in server maintenance and time commitment to maintain a server or few to run this service, especially if it helped achieve mass acceptance of NS.
what.. if there is an official ns clanbase, just like clanbase, only clans should have to PAY to be on it. I know people won't like this, but there are so many cs clans, a clan means nothing. This way, someone who wants to join a clan will have to pay to register a clan. (maybe even members would have to pay). They MIGHT get a server included, if the fee is high enough, but i would think the fee would be kept low. I think about euro 5,-/month (i think about $5,-). this is not so much, but enough to not join a great amount of clans, and just start one.
I see two advantages: one, the dev team gets some money for there mod, without going retail. Second, clans would be something really special. If you join a clan, you have to pay, so you really think before joining one. And the clanbase problem of two clans fighting but both not having a server...
