Argh! F4 Quitters!

What's going on?
Since 2.0 came out nearly every game I've been in has ended not because one team destroyed the other, but because one team hit F4 and quit when it started looking bad. This happened in 1.04, but rarely as frequently.
What's going on?

Fight to the death!

well no, I remember the release of NS the first time around being the same, it took a little while for the F4ers to calm down or move on, so I suspect the same thing will happen here.

If an alien team lacking in heavy teamwork or a 'rine team with a turret farming comm gets the upper hand, the game becomes very long, drawn out, and dull, so people F4. I don't, but then again, the one game I've lost so far as comm, I ended up trying a last ditch rush after recycling just about everything I could find rather than sit back and slowly be whittled down. We still lost, but hey, it's better than a 2 hour slugfest with aliens who won't bilebomb.

I like to F4 all the time. When I press tab and I see the teams 6v9, I just have to. End the game, lets restart with even teams.

If you don't like it. Try to keep teams even next time.

One of the most annoying things about this game is how people see clearly unbalanced teams, then and get **** if you leave or give up. Like somehow it's your obligation to let them stomp all over you only because they have superior numbers. Sorry, I ain't playin a one-sided game.

um... but can't someone from the larger team f4 and join the smaller team?

or are people so egotistic not to do that?

noob marine stackers + F4 ers = more marines to devour before autodefeat kicks in.

When you see a difference of 4 ppl best thing you can do is f4.
When your tem just slaughtered the enemy a bit and game ends because of f4 you have won for sure.

yeah, i've noticed this too, it's really annoying

personally i'm anti f4, but sometimes it's necessary....as we all don't fully understand the gameplay, it's leading to > 40 minute games...in some of these cases, it's just so much better to start afresh

pisses me off when it happens right at the start...2.0 was designed for faster games/faster gameplay, so eventually lots of games are gonna result in efficient ownage...let's hope the f4'ers get used to it, otherwise there'll never be a finished game

Aliens tend to F4 when they can't breach that heavy marine base defense. This is especially true in Bast , where grenade launchers and sieges make the Feedwater hive hard to defend while the aliens own the whole map except Atmospheric where the marines relocated to. This becomes a HA GL / hive 2 onos stalemate.

I like F4 ending because u know that u have really owned the other team, and they are that frustrated they have to give up

No, or at least AFAIK, you cant do that.

It was a "bug fix" with the old versions because people would join aliens, find out the hive, and then go tell the 'rines. Or else people would be marines comm, recycle everything, then go to aliens. It was a bad fix for the reason described above (unable to even the teams).

I assume its probably still there? Anyone know?

You can change teams whenever you want, you just have to reconnect to the server each time.

StoatBringer, come over to Roob's. We still have an anti-F4 policy. I know some of you don't like this so anyone that likes to quit should stay away We also don't look fondly on players sitting about spawn killing rather than finishing the game, or dragging the game out longer than necessary however we have had to be more relaxed on this last rule while people find their feet.

Having said that 2.0 can try your patience at times, I just had a game that was drawn out for an hour and a half longer than it should have been if the aliens had the slightest clue what they are doing.
