Anyone else find these annoying?
I went comm for the first time in NS and hadn't read anywhere that the keyboard now rebound itself when you went comm, so I'm there idly chatting away to my team using the "v" key and when I go back to build something else at base I discover that I have recycled the ip and there are 3 disgruntled marines in the spawn queue. So I went into the controls menu after the round had finished and found that you have to choose 12 keys that get rebound to the comm control pad, I changed them so that v wasn't going to recycle my base any more and went back into a game. Again, I recycled the ip! So i went back into the controls menu to see what was wrong and the keys I had changed it to were stil there, v wasn't one of them. So I've given up, apparently I can't change those keys and so I can no longer use my v key for voice comms. I have to say that it's pretty annoying you can't change which 12 keys get used as comm even though it appears that you should be able to. Anyone else had this problem?

the letters correspond to those 12 keys
Edit: OK, feel free to call me a noob, I just realised that that variable isn't in my Read-only config, oops.
But cheer up, medpacks are under the S for Spam

Why is your config read-only? To stop admins with certain plugins from overwriting your config? It makes life a lot easier to put all your settings in something like ns.cfg and have it auto execute. That was you can fiddle with your config in game if you have to, but your settings are preserved.
Since any buidings can be added to a squad (which is wierd, I made my phase gate squad 3 while messing around ) you can just add the obs to squad 5, then when ever you want to scan, press 5, then A. It would be nice if more observatories made scanning recharge quicker though. Once you get used to it, it's great. I'd command all the time now if it werent for my 8fps while commanding
One minor thing annoys me though, after recycling a structure, you have to click on someone or something to get the menu back up. It'd be nice if you could press escape to go back like with the other menus.

Another reason to make squads out of buildings is to get to locations quickly.
This is nearly a new game, compared to 1.04. Keyboard layout changes should've been expected. No need for explicatives, just change it to something that suits your style.
