    Write on a piece of paper "If you are a ghost please knock over these items here" and then place it over something (something that cats cant knock down/mess with/ reach) If it gets knocked down or messed with then you have a ghost in your house.

    I would just sleep in my car at night. Or maybe its a nice ghost, ask it to make you breakfast, or at least flush the toilet for you or something.
