Sound Woes :/

Music/longer SFX skipping
Seeing as my post in the bugs discussion completely died, I'm assuming this is only a problem I am having now.
Anyway, since i have installed ns2.0, the previously fine music and sound effects now skip, as if my computer was lagging - but the fps via netgraph shows otherwise. I also dont notice any lag. It was perfectly fine in 1.04.

The sound card I currently have is the creative soundblaster live! 5.1 digital. I have tried every driver available for it, to no avail. I have deactivated EAX and A3D, and I still have the same problem. I have run in every mode possible, and I still have the problem.

Any ideas how I can fix this? :/

Have you tried disabling the ingame music? cl_musicenable 0, cl_musicvolume 0

..... It is the music that is skipping,I want the music! I've obviously tried disabling it lol
I will try messing around with the variables though, I have an idea. If this idea works then it's likely to be another bug like the "broken strafe" thing. May need to be stickied incase it is a common bug or somethign
anyway, here goes.

So far, disableing then re-enabling this music seems to have worked, But this is only on a listen lan server (sv_cheats was 1). I will need to check on a internet server to verify if this has actually been fixed, as it may be server side instead of clientside.

Thanks for the help monse so far

I was having a similar problem.
I always play ns using openGL, but for some reason it was playing up for the first few days so i had to run in D3d.
Thats when my music was skipping, quite badly too.
I just seemed to have remidied the openGL problem so tried played a game using it, and there was no music skipping.

So, are you running in D3d?

I'm running OpenGl. Direct3D just tears frames like wet tissue paper. :/

The bug occurs for me on serverside play, also on blueyonder NS, there was...weirdness. Everything was jargoned and the music continued to skip.... I will quickly upload a screenie of what i saw, presuming it took the jargon pic O-o
*uploaded piccy:*
What the hell is going on?! I don't think I can even join any servers anymore because of this sudden bug?! why!?
What am I supposed to do?

Uninstall NS and reinstall it. Is this happening in other mods as well? If so, uninstall HL and reinstall, then patch, then install your mods.

Allready doing so - redownloading it off a different mirror to make sure. I'm begining to think this is another metamod issue, as I have jsut tested this on basic vanillia servers - this bug was not apparant. Also on my own listen server, with sv_cheats set to 1, and a bunch of stuff goign on, no "sound skipping".
So I'm now assuming either my client is fluffed up with internet gaming or something, or metamod doesnt like me.
I will post with results of the reinstall, and testing of other mods.

Tested a reinstall of ns, The manglored screen bug is gone, and is now accountable to a borked BY server. Would test other mods, but they dont have ambient sound effects nearly as long as ns's, and the same with music. This kinda sucks major ammounts of dust from an ambandonned loft of a 50 year old house. :/
I need a few VANILLA NS servers to check that it is metamod casuign the problem....
*sigh* it looks as though i was mistaken about this being a metamod issue. It still skips on vanilla servers. I think therfore I have a huge problem somewhere in my cleint settings, I don't understand why, as ns 1.04 was working fine, why should ns2.0 be any different in terms of sound? :/ I will try again with some random settings, But I'm still open for suggestions...

[finaledit?]

Ok You may not beleive this... I seem to have fixed the problem, at least on vanilla servers, by turning EAX on, and then seeminly randomyl adjustign soundcard settings........ I am now officially confused. One problem though - with eax now enabled, everything sounds a little tinny... (less bass)... still. GG random lateral thinking. Thanks to everyone who tried to help, your thaughtfullness has been valued
