You're wrong there. I love killing redemption Oni. In fact often it is my misson as a squad leader to hunt down those that think redemption Oni are invinsible. All you need is three shotguns really and maybe one HMG.

So in comes Mr. Onos, thinking that he'll just eat a marine and then get redeemed. He's dead almost instantly, as 2 shots from 3 shotguns are more than enough to level him. gg.

Ok you have a great imagination, I've seen 5 shot gunners with full upgrades never actually kill a redeeming onos. I've seen 1 redemption onos drop since 2.0 and it was cause he redeemed to a hive that was being assaulted by HA's. Otherwise the redemption works too often, it's way too useful to be that accurate in pulling that onos back.

Oh and please people stop calling it "Oni". Onos is not plural, it doens't say "Lerks" or "Gorges" in the section, none of them are plural, so Onos is singular, it's like....Jesus, Jesus doesn't mean multiple Jesu, lol....I mean cmon, english classes people. Anything ending in S doesn't make it plural, hardy har har.

Plural is simply Onos'.

Nobody assigned you the role of telling everybody what is wrong and what is right.

And the 5 shotgunners you speak of must have had very bad aim, because on my clan server a redemption onos doesn't have time to redeem if all shots land on it at the same time.

[e]I have died as a redemption Onos several times just like this.

I have only died once as a redempting onos only because there seems to be a redemption bug where it doesn't work occasionally for a short period, prob server side.

I'm personally fed up with this (devour)
And I'm using my kill bind as long as the server rules doesnt mention it.
So, is it socially acceptable? It's not like if I'm heavy that I would kill myself But getting devoured over and over by the same god damn onos as a LA marine is just too damn annoying.

I was kinda worried when I saw a thread that I didn't remember posting in, until I checked the date of the thread. Glad to see someone not re-posting an old topic.

I still say that /kill-ing is pretty cheap; It was never meant to be in NS, its just part of Half Life, and because of that I'm still trying to decide whether or not I think its an exploit. In the end, exploit or not, it still negatively affects the gameplay.

If being Devoured bothers you that much, and if you're being devoured over and over again, perhaps you shouldn't continue running to where the Onos is.

Either you're playing a two on two or you lack logic. Read the post above your last one for clarification.

Sigh, don't bump extremely old threads.

The only fix this needs is to make marines incapable of actually suiciding when inside an Onos' belly, as has always been intended. The problem comes from the fact that if you start the timer beforehand you will still suicide inside the Onos. Even with a /kill timer of 15 seconds, you'll just die maybe 13 seconds after the Onos digests you instead of 30 and the Onos won't get any res. People suiciding before they're killed can still be fixed by an admin setting a longer suicide time.

I think that a two month old topic is ok. What if the guy made a search and that's what came up. Do you blame him for having done so ? Or would you have preferred he just start a new thread and every comment will be said again, instead of learning from the old ones.

o On the topic :

For my part, I don't mind being devoured. It is part of the game, and I accept the consequence of it. I just like to listen to the buffed out sounds, trying to hear if my teammates are coming to rescue me or not. Maybe it is because I'm the patient type (IE : I don't mind guarding outposts for 3-5 minutes !).
