What is everyones opinions of siege turrets now in 2.0

Im very apprieciative of them and i use them mostly to siege res nodes <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->

they are quick and efficient to put up now.

    I've always liked sieges (make up for low marine skill!), however, I've found most defenses can be broken faster and cheaper with an assault squad than with sieges. I save them mostly for hives, since they need to be "locked down" afterwards, if possible, and sieges do just that.

    Scanning is annoying, even with 2 obs it can take a while to clear a large area.

    Someone gave me a good tip, but your obs as squads (only one in each tho). Then to scan press 'squad no.' and there's the menu.

    Have an abundance of obs, simple. Have an obs where you're scanning, have an obs in previous scan positions, have two at base, etc. They cost 20 res, that's all.

    If you really can't afford it, then try to at least clear the offense chambers with the scans and then send in some marines to spot (do equip them with shotguns and tell them to stay away from buildings, as siege does hurt marines too now).

    I feel sieges are a defensive weapon. The only thing there good for is Deep sixing combat gorges trying to walk OTs in on my bases.
    Well I take that back, I still like to drop on or two in here recption to clear out holoroom.
