Scoring System?

<div class="IPBDescription">not that it matters..</div> hi everyone..

i've just started playing NS2 and it's fantastic.
as a new player i guess i don't have any of the gripes about changes that were made to the old version, but one thing i wonder is-

can you at all determine what your player 'score' is?

i'm a team player, if the team is working together, and mostly care about my team winning rather then my own personal scores.. (ie: in Battlefield1942, i'm the enginner getting blown to bits fixing tanks, even though i don't get any 'points' awarded for this)

i can't determine if its the placement of your name on the scoreboard or what.. and if there is a player 'score' what contributes to it? For a marine, do you get points for killing aliens? How about points for kills made by gun turrets you helped construct? Or guarding/moving towards a waypoint given by your commander?

This stuff is of course completely unnecessary to NS - just wondering if anything like this is implemented.

cool, thanks-

    The only thing that contributes to score is killing. Marines have no scores (technically they do, but they're hidden). Aliens' scores are hidden, but they determine the player's position on the scoreboard, with a higher score putting you higher on the scoreboard.

    There is a means of finding out your "frags" from the server. "Frags", all the way back to Doom, means your kills minus suicides. I'm not going to say how to do this, though.

    Why not?
    It's not a big secret.

    I sometimes check my score after a long game. It's interesting to see how much I pwned. <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->

    Just pull down the console and type "status" (without the quotes) and you will see the scores from every player. <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->

    What do you mean by that?

    i mean that each res point you collect, your score gets increased

    i though it was obvious, it said in the changelog

    Oh I see.

    However, the changelog says that resources earned <b>for kills</b> is added to the score, not resources in general.
