    Yes it's possible, but you would have to code it into the mod.

    So in otherwords in a models and skins forum, its not possible.

    You could request it...I'm sure that wouldnt take too much time to code...the re-skinning of the models is the only "hard" part.

    That would make NS even more politically correct <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->

    Actually, that's a nifty idea.

    skinfamilies works with the marine, but we've also learned NS will randomize skinfamilies amongst heavies as well. It's a stretch, but it might be possible to do the same with *any* model.

    hey hey ppls.. not so fast.. what about the transparency dlls.. ...ok..you cant do 2 different looking models...but maybe you can SKIN it diferently.. just make the helmet on one marine invisible with the dlls...and the other not... is it possible to bind the transmap / alphastuff to the random skin stuff in any way?
    only thing have to be is a complete head under the helmet... so you wont have a hole instead of the hair..

    maybe you have to remap the model so the skin textures would be on the same texture file as the helmet textures.. ( could get a bit small with space..) when hl selects the random skin file with the transparent colored helmet on it he would disapear...

    :edit: whoops.. very offtopic..lol.. but i think it would be a very nice idea...

    Fully possible, in fact I started toying with it the day after 2.0 came out wondering why I hadn't thought of it before. Sure enough, with some extra polies for a full head you can have helmets on/off very easily with the masked transparency.

    Multiple skinfamilies that are interchangeable by themselves... does anyone have anything regarding <i>that</i>? <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->

    I've mentioned it a few times, both on the forums and in IRC, but no one high-up ever seemed particularly interested in it. I think it'd be <i>great</i> to increase model diversity that way - it so simple.

    You know guys, maybe I'm going insane or something...

    But the last game I played in, it sure looked to me like there was both black and white marines. <!--emo&???--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/confused.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='confused.gif'><!--endemo-->

    OK, if I'm going insane, then HL Model Viewer must be whacked out of it's binary mind as well. Load up the soldier.mdl, go to Body, and go back and forth between Skin 1 and Skin 2. The two different textures are there as well...lol <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->

    I know the marines are a black guy and a white guy..
    <!--QuoteBegin--></span><table border='0' align='center' width='95%' cellpadding='3' cellspacing='1'><tr><td><b>QUOTE</b> </td></tr><tr><td id='QUOTE'><!--QuoteEBegin-->like the marines- 1 black guy and 1 white guy...
    i would like to know if this is possible with skulk aswell...<!--QuoteEnd--></td></tr></table><span class='postcolor'><!--QuoteEEnd-->

    Thats why wondered if the same thing was possible without changing the game code on a skulk <!--emo&???--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/confused.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='confused.gif'><!--endemo-->

    ...

    If you read the original post more carefully, the person is asking whether more models than just the soldiers could have multiple skins.

    /me fwaps the new person. Playfully. <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->

    OK, well hackinnen^ with his comment about political correctness threw me. <!--emo&???--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/confused.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='confused.gif'><!--endemo-->

    And dont give me that "read the post more carefully!" sass...I took "like the marines- 1 black guy and 1 white guy..." to mean "Like, could we make the marines have one black guy and one white guy?" which in my insomniac state is a perfectly fine translation <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->
