or avoid being fish in barrel
Just a little tip for squads facing an onos...
Spread out or else the onos will stomp once and stun everyone in the squad. If you let him do that then he'll probably eat one of you and headbutt the rest to death. Without allmost a singe shot fired at him...
Spreading out will also raise your chanses to take him out since he'll have longer to run from one marine to an other. Try also to make sure that you don't block the turrets LOS. If you stand behind them you can still shoot over them and you get a bit over cover from the onos.

This is of course easiest to do while guarding a rather big room like generator on caged(?) but it's probably enough if you keep to one wall each while in corridors to avoid a mass stomp.

no doubt, in tall rooms too (like power silo) the best thing is to have peeps in circles on the ground facing out(with shotties), ppl on the lower ring facing in (with gl's preferably) and ppl on the top with hmgs. no onos can take 4 ppl like that
also, onos in the main base gonna eat u as soon as u spawn... just do what i do, get the comm 2 drop gl's rite by the ip (provided u have advanced armory)

Spreading out is always a good idea, whether you're moving or covering a room.

But you've gotta remember to pick your fights above all else. Don't engage enemies if you don't have an advantage. Against an Onos, this means closed, cramped spaces. Lure them into large rooms or long hallways (Tram Tunnel on Bast just comes to mind), where you have a range advantage over the Onos' close-range attacks.
