Ok, i'll break this down by the type of cylinder and explain everything I can think of for how to make it. (note that some of the more experienced quarker's may have a better way)

    Solid cylinders:
    1) Click the polyhedron button, go to complex polyhedrons, select prism of appropriate number of sides.
    2) Make a regular cube, right click a vertex, click cut off corner, reposition as necessary, repeat to desired number of sides.

    Hollow Cylinders:
1)Click commands -> Make prism. Input number of sides for cylinder. If the cylinder is uniform (IE same distance from center to any one point) change the "Radius of Prism" field to that value (only need to put it in once) otherwise specify the distance to each side. The "Hollow of Prism" specifies the distance between the center and one of the inside edges of the cylinder.
    2) Create a cube, use the make prism option to create a prism that has an outer diameter the same size as the desired inner diameter. Turn that into a negative brush and place it inside the cube. This is useful for constructing sewer systems with the path tool.
    3) Make a brush that is the wall width you want. Have fun figuring out the radial duplicator and setting it up to make a prism. I wouldn't advise this, but I suppose it would work.

"path following cylinders" are a nice feature of quark.
