<div class="IPBDescription">mine is different i read all the others</div> alright i just downloaded NS v2.0 and went on multiplayer>internet games>filter and tryed to filter out all the NS servers and clicked accept. Then i clicked update and nothing happened.

So i tryed to connect to a server using Gamespy, i connected but then it dissconnected me and said " couldn't find maps/ns_tanith.bsp your .dll [cl_.dlls\client.dll] differs from the servers (i was trying to connect to server 65.170.14.109:27020).

So after that i tryed using the console in counter-strike because for some reason i cant get into the one in natural selection, it just goes a wierd. so i put in "connect 65.170.14.109:27020" and i couldn't connect at all after retrying 4 times, i retryed connecting and i got the same outcome.

And yes i know about the Shortcut being bad so i used the one in Start>programs>Nateral Selection 2.0> Launch Natural Selection.

I have read all the other posts about how it might be my firewall, and i have zonealarm(yeah i know it sucks, its my moms dicision) but when i open it and go to Programcontrol Natural-Selection isn't even listed, but Counter-strike and Day of Defeat are and there but playable.

Some one please tell me what the heck i did wrong i can be a real dumb arse sometimes.

Also When i try and configure my controls i use my mouse5 button as reload and i can do so in DoD and CS but not NS why? Do i have to bind it in game? if so how? (bind mouse5 .....?...?...?...?)

*NOTE* I Downloaded and installed NS twice from 2 different sites and tryed waht i said above and same results. <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/sad.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad.gif'><!--endemo--> <!--emo&???--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/confused.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='confused.gif'><!--endemo--> <!--emo&:angry:--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/mad.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='mad.gif'><!--endemo--> <!--emo&???--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/confused.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='confused.gif'><!--endemo--> <!--emo&:angry:--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/mad.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='mad.gif'><!--endemo--> <!--emo&???--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/confused.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='confused.gif'><!--endemo--> <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/sad.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad.gif'><!--endemo-->

Ok, before we get going: the shortcut will not be bad if you installed NS 2.0. That is an old and fixed bug.

Are you 100% sure you downloaded and installed NS 2.0, and not NS 1.0? I know that sounds like a dumb question, but it already happened to 2 other people that contacted me via email. I ask because there's no way for you to be running a different copy of the Tanith than other NS 2.0 servers, unless you are running 1.0.

Also, when you say you tried connecting via gamespy - do you mean GS3D that you already had installed, or GS Arcade (which came with 2.0, and incidenetly, will tell us if you installed the newest NS client).

well the file i downloaded is ns_install_v20 and i know its the right one because while i was typing the post my friend had downloaded and installed it and i guess it worked fine for him, could it be the places i got it from?<!--emo&???--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/confused.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='confused.gif'><!--endemo-->

the current one i have is from this site called jarhedz.com i'm not sure what the first place was, but my firend got it from red phive.

And the version of gamespy is the one i had b4 i got NS, i hardly ever use it, only when i need a server that i dont have updated or something of the sort.

So unless its some stupid arse retard that renamed the file ns_install_v20 as a joke when its v1.0 or its just the wrong file, i have the right one

OH and i just read the post 2 posts down from this about an invalad cl_dll on windows98 and i have windows 2000 incase you wanted/needed to know

Okay, heres how you can tell if you have 2.0 installed.
    Goto Half Life\ns\
    Open liblist.gam in Notepad
look for the line that says version
if it says "2.0" you have 2.0 installed..
    if not.. you dont

An alternate method (that is a tad bit safer, as we discourage people from EVER possibly altering their liblist file) is to simply right click your ns\client_dll\client.dll and choose properties, then version. That value cannot be edited and will always be correct, and you have less chance of breaking anything.

afaik, jarhedz.com is closely related to rr.org (not sure how), so Im pretty confident that this man has the real ns 2.0 client.

Try deleteing the Backup NS folder
Or move it out of the half-life folder
You may be trying to run the backup version and connect to 2.0 folders..
Maybe the installer should have edited the backup liblist.gam and changed the game name..

Wow, I am having the same exact problem. The way the error was stated makes me feel that my "client.dll" file is somehow corrupted. Every time i try to connect to <i>any</i> server, this message pops up. Any suggestions/places you know have a clean client.dll file?
