<div class="IPBDescription">Help building things...</div> Hi,I'm new here and just had a few questions. I have read every FAQ and thread I can find for newbies but just need a little more help in a few areas.
1)Building things. Everyone says "Just get to a buildable spot as a Marine or Gorge and press your "USE" key". However,I've done this very thing and it doesn't seem to do anything (I have use bound to E,if that matters).If I see someone planting a turrett and go up and press use along side them,it seems like it gets built faster,but it just be my newbishness. Furthermore, do I just "USE" damaged structures to fix them,or do I have to have special equipment/be a Gorge ?
2)Turrets. I see the turrett factorys. Now how do I get one so I can plant it ? Do I have to drop a weapon to make room in my inventory ? (I haven't tried this option yet as it just occured to me).Does the commander have to give me one ?
3)Armor. I know the commander drops weapons out of the ceiling/LAN thingy,but how the heck do I get new armor ? The same way ? At the armor factory structure ?
I would really aprreciate some help here,as I'm stil a bit confused. I'd really like to play the heck out of this mod,though.

Make sure the buildings isn't already built. If the building has a yellow circle, it means it hasn't been built yet. About the damaged structures, for marines, you need a welder to repair the damaged structures. It will replace your secondary weapon. For aliens you have to be Gorge to heal the structures, it's the secondary weapon of the gorge to heal the buildings.

The commander have to drop turrets. It won't replace any weapons, you just have to build it.

It depends on what armor your talking about. If your talking about regular armor level, the commander will have to upgrade it. If your talking about Heavy Armor, the commander drops it like weapons are dropped, but it first have to be upgraded by the Prototype lab.
One more thing though.Do I need the welder to build as a marine,and furthermore,how exectly do I get it ? The commander,once again ?
Ok,thanks a bunch.

Oh dear <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->
The commander drops structures to be built. He plays the game kinda like Starcraft. Dropped structures are always unbuilt (yellow outlined, empty health rings) and require marines to build them. Structures are not functional until they are fully built. You don't need a welder to build - only to repair (or to activate weldable locations on a map). You build structures by holding down your use key on them - not pressing or rapidly tapping it. Finally, there are restrictions on *where* the commander can drop stuff:
*Weapons can only be dropped within range of an armoury. So don't ask the commander for a welder if you're not in base!
*Infantry portals can only be dropped within range of Command Centres.
*Jetpacks and Heavy Armour can only be dropped within range of Prototype Labs.
The real name of these weldable thingies is ''func_weldable''!
I think only mappers like me know that! <!--emo&;)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/wink.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wink.gif'><!--endemo--> <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->
There are different things to weld: With using welder in front of those func_weldables, you can destroy or repair it! sometimes when you repair it, it has the function of a button! (func_button)
You can press this button always and activate something with that: a door (func_door) or an elevator, or a train (func_train) and this func_train can change the target with a ''trigger_changetarget'' For example: (from ns_lost) An elevator is damaged, and you see sparks! (env_spark[toggleable])(starts: untoggled)
Then you start welding the elevator, (see blue bar, down at the screen) when it is complete, sparks turn off (env_sparks-toggled by func_weldable option: trigger on finish) This option changes the func_trains target, too, (path_corner) with the trigger_changetarget! And when you press the func_button then, which activates the func_train, then the func_train will move to the new upper path_corner, and not only a half meter up, because it was damaged! <!--emo&::nerdy::--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/nerd.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='nerd.gif'><!--endemo--> <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->
I hope you understanded this!!!
But i know....
you don't!!!
