No Sound...

<div class="IPBDescription">Very irksome.</div> I'm pretty sure this is the correct forum for this,and I would sorely appreciate some help.
Previous to last week,I had had HL installed on my system for about 3 years with no real problems. However,to make room for the Planetside trial I deleted my HL instal to make room.
This brings us to tonight when I finally decide to re-try Natural Selection for the first time since the initial release. I instal HL,patch it up,and instal the latest NS version. Everything is running fine graphically (1600x1200,constant 72 fps),but there is NO sound ! I've been playing all night and only on two occasions have I heard sound for a few occasions each time. Once I joined a server with Winamp playing in the background I had sound,but it stopped when people started talking via voice chat. Additionally,once I joined a different server and had sound for a few seconds,until people started talking as well. It ALWAYS seems to kill Winamp when I start NS/HL.
I played with every audio option available to no avail.I'm SURE I'm missing out on some really cool sounds from this mod too .
System specs-
Athlon Xp 2200+ (thoroughbred)
640Mb pc_2100 DDR Ram
Radeon 9500 128Mb softmodded to a 9700 and OC'd to 283/553.5
Soundblaster 64v PCI (Card has been filling my needs for YEARS,and still to this day gives me no problems)
My soundcard is fine,and never gives me trouble in ANYTHING.This is the first odd thing to ever happen with my sound :/

Update the drivers, and if that doesn't work, get a new one. It's very old anyway, and a new one certainly wouldn't hurt.
as for fixes:
1) TURN OF WINAMP, NS 2.0 has a built in MP3 player <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->
2) voice_enable "0" try it out, it will disable voice chat, see what happens <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->
