versus SoF
is it just me, or has parasite become an extremely underused skill?

in 1.04 it was good practice to make sure every marine on the map was parasited, now, with the major boost to Scent of Fear, and the commonness of sensory chambers, i almost never see parasites used, ever. what gives?

I parasite sometimes, but I almost always die shortly after, thanks to this terrific minimap that shows the little crack I'm hiding in.

Unless they're parasiting from far away , skulks just run into the marines and chomp them...
With Cloaking or Silence they have to use surprise , with SoF they don't care as you pointed out , with Celerity or Adren they just go berserk as soon as they see a marine. Regen skulks aren't used much really , and cara skulks fight marines at close range usually. The weapon switching process is too slow , so it's not a fantastic idea to parasite a marine when engaging in fight.

Parasiting marines at their spawn still works though , as a comm I see roughly 1/4 of the marines at base paraed and more than half of them paraed outside.

Since cara slows downs Aliens, and the Skulks need the speed to close in on the Marine, I've started going with regen instead of cara. Along with SoF, I can quickly learn what places are safe to hang out, and where to ambush incoming marines at. I'll attack the marines, then fall back for healing.

yeah I was once at shipping tunnel RT after having just knifed it, and I was getting annoyed at the comm for being slow at dropping it. Action was happening elsewhere across the map of course, but this comm was taking more than a minute. I got bored and started to watch my teammates on the minimap. Lo and behold there was a skulk right behind me. RIGHT BEHIND ME

rofl I jumped off and spun around; thank God for motion h4x. The skulk had chosen silence + cloak. He tried to hide but I shot him down even tho I couldn't see him. Too bad I got h4x

Regen/Celerity Skulks have been my favorite alien for a while now.

Good for flanking... Run through the line chomping once or twice, get behind em, regen, wait a bit, then come at thier backs.

When my team goes d first on Caged, I sit in the vent and parasite every person that leaves, since pistols shoot so slow now.

So, yes, if you're not using sens first you better parasite! ;-)

You're talking as if sensories are always available, as available as skulks.....all you need is 1 hive and just about any player for parasite. SoF requires sensories, now I know its hard to believe but not EVERYONE goes sensory first =/
