How do you record demo's and play them?

In console type...

record "NAMEHERE"

Then play until you're done.

To view them, type...

playdemo "NAMEHERE"

And it'll start playing.

Also, make sure not to record while someone is talking on the mic, same with when you're ending it.

Why? I don't see any problem with it, my Demo's have no problem with people on the Mic. But stop recording before the Map changes. HL will crash if you try and watch a Demo with a map change in it.

It crashes for me anyway, and some guy kepy biotching about people talking on their mics while he was about to record a race we were doing(in NS).

Hmm... that might be a problem with NS, not in DoD.

The problem occurs when you try to start recording a demo while someone is talking on the mic. HL immediately crashes out, and you get no demo.

I think you mis understood, I'd said that it would crash if you were recording while someone was on the mic.
