To stay in control of your own pc.
I got the idea to make this thread when I read another thread about virusues or something. This is all my personal opinion, but I feel that I'm pretty smart about this kinda thing. Feel free to add your comments or suggestions.

I use a browser called .Opera for my web browsing and email. 99% of viruses out there are built to hurt Internet Explorer and Outlook Express. They simply will not work with Opera.

I use OpenOffice for all my Office type needs. It's free, works better and MS Office, can read any file format. What else do you want?

And finally, I only use Windows because games don't run well on Linux yet.

A handy little tool to check for bad stuff on your computer is called AdAware, and I really recommend that everyone check it out.

Worried about a virus? Check out this free, web-based Antivirus software.

Want a file-sharing program that doesn't spy on you? Try Kazaa Lite.

For surfing the Web, I use Mozilla (open-source browser).
For playing digital music, I use Zinf (formerly known as Freeamp).

Ok, first of all, when you linked Linux you should have linked to the main Linux site, not redhat. I mean, what's the point of the open source revolution if everyone just flocks to the same version?
