Players's minimap - A question...

I was looking around in the forum and came across this image and noticed the map in the top right corner.

How does this work?, it seems to be a zoom on the minimap, does it mean mappers can create much more complicated layouts cuz ns_nothing(when i saw the layout) seems huge and very complicated. Now writing this i imagine its to emphasise the role of the commander in guiding the marines...

could we have more specs on this feature, and because of this should we be discouraged to make "regular sized" hl(and mods) teamplay maps???

Could you rephrase in the form of a question? I'm not sure what you're asking.

I think he is noticing how complicated and large NS maps are in general, and wondering if Map makers should be discouraged from making normal, smaller, simpler maps/layouts.  Hes also asking for more information on the features available on the minimap readout.  I think thats what he is asking...

Well, you can make whatever you want. Smaller maps are fine - in fact, many of our maps aren't that big, they are just tightly packed, and seem more complex because you're used to the simpler layouts of CS, TFC, DoD, or other 'Capture the <i>X</i>' mods.

There are no features on the minimap readout other than what you see. It's just a zoomed in view of a portion of your commander minimap sprite, which tracks along with you.
