<div class="IPBDescription">C'mon, there must be SOMETHING</div> First of all, please, PLEASE dont post what you hate about them <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->

My favourite thing about first time NS players is the screaming over voice comm.

I love few things as much as hearing someone new to the game scream, "WTH IS THAT THING???"

*silence*

"AAAAAAA It's after meee! getitoff getitoff getitoff!"

*silence*

    Is this another 'make-fun-of-noobs'-Thread in disguise ? <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo--> <!--emo&::skulk::--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/skulk.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='skulk.gif'><!--endemo--> <!--emo&::skulk::--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/skulk.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='skulk.gif'><!--endemo--> <!--emo&::asrifle::--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/asrifle.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='asrifle.gif'><!--endemo-->

I like it when a newbie gets lost on a map and stumbles into the hive.
    "What's a HMG?"
CSers who go rambo and try to headshot the aliens.

But mostly, I love how they contribute to the res pool.

I like new players. They usualy follow orders and directions and such. AND FFS, JUST BECAUSE THE PERSON DIDNT DL THE GAME WHEN IT FIRST CAME OUT DOESNT MAKE THEM A CS N0B. Jeeeezus christ, it's not even funny anymore.

I like new players because they're easy to kill.

    Somebody had to say it. <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->

Took me 3 mags, the fade always touching me metabolizing while I ran back.
He died and called me; "lucker".

LOL hearing them say.. "hey theres a zerg over here"

Telling them you have to read the manual to unlock new guns and the ability to build stuff and them going off and doing it.

Killing them and hearing them yell "BS I hit you in the head!!!"

Not having to explain why movement is the best first chamber.

The fact that they believe anything..
I once told a n00b that he had commander powers and had to go to the little white geysers and scream as loud as he can.. for his team to get better guns..
This was after 15 min of nagging to be commander <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->

there are crule people who tell n00bs that F4 accesses the buy menu (not me) <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo--> but what I love about them, is the amazment they get from playing such a great game. I remember the first time I saw an onos, i just couldn't stop smiling <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo--> . Its brilliant to hear people saying "OMG I just got eaten by some giant rhino"

Having them not respond to anything you say is extremely frustrating but it is worth it for the times you can use them as bait. Most newbs aren't perceptive. Thank God those who don't communicate (probably don't know how to) eventually quit.

Edit: I love how when they are marines they hardly get a shot off before you rip them to pieces. Dazed and confused.

Making them wet themelves after seeing an onos for the first time then devouring them whole after chasing them <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->. THis has speciall effect if they are called something called "super biscuit" or something to that effect, as just happened on. When I was a newb, I had this done to me (well the equivilent at the time of 1.04)

It's also nice to see some of them learn incredibly fast.
As for total nubs, well I call them "fastfood". Same with rambos. They are good because they give me that bit of extra res to build stuff/evolve ^-^

there was a funny moment today when some guy over voice comm said 'ah this bloody map, been wandering around for ages, and im getting lost and cant get to where i need to be!'. So i duly replied, 'use the map', his response 'what f**king map??'

cue much laughter from all others on the server, rtfm, 'you mean you didnt know THAT??'

and ofc telling him how to get up his map <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->

I am fond of showing them the ropes, the ones that are willing to learn anyway, Many games i have had a nube in tow, giving him tactical advice as we secure a node and such. Its also fun to make fun of the ones that think they already know what they need to know.
    and they have tastier ankles

I have converted a CS'er into a hardcore NS'er. He played for something like seven hours straight a couple of days ago, five of them with me, only to have it all end in, "Man you were right, this game DOES kick ****!"

I slept soundly knowing I have improved someone life.

    Best moments:

Nubs going in the comm chair: "Oh what are all these buttons?! I'm flying!!"

Oh, and the fact that they seem to have no communication whatsoever with anyone, and they take shotguns, and move a few feet, look around take a random shot, then move some more and repeat.

I like n00bs because they dont act like they know every F#cking thing about the game as do most more experienced players.
  • MrKNifeyMrKNifey Join Date: 2003-06-25 Member: 17668Members
I only like n00bs that are willing to learn a new game, not those silly people that act like they are already god because they played CS.

Worst i've seen was a guy who asked how to use voice comm. After failing to hear him five times, i asked him if his mic was in the right plug. here was his response:

"You need a microphone for voice comm?"

    ...i won't tell you what our response was T_T;

Don't ask me questions, don't drag my team down, and are easy to kill(best of all)! N00bs=best in the world! So as long as they are on the other team! <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->

Oh i'm also one of those cruel people. Everyone press f4 to buy a shotgun and heavy armor!!
  • lazygamerlazygamer Join Date: 2002-01-28 Member: 126Members
Well im not cruel, but im so tempted to try these! Use it as an anti-personel weapon against marines. <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->

I have v bound to impulse 7 - chuckle while alien, and 'follow me' while marine.

Even though they nerfed it hard so you can only hit a voicecomm once an epoch, its real fun to go into a group of newbies and get them to follow you in a giant train. You can usually take over parts of the map that the commander is ignoring and wait for further orders.

It's those things that are awesome, like Onos... and Jetpacking... I remember when I first saw an Onos, I tried running with my Jetpack. Then it paralyzed me and I died.

I usually help noobs that want it and ask for it. Such as:

-Teaching him/her the 'ropes' of both teams
-Telling him/her the basics of the game
-Training them (don't worry, I go easy on them)
-Give them hints (in a private server, I let the noob go rine and I go skulk, then I show him/her what's the best spot in building certain structures, then we change teams and I show him how to build hives, and stuff)

If they seem to reject my help, even say that they're better at me. Then:

-I'll begin my killing spree by chomping the noob's head off, and then follow up with seconds by killing his mates.
-I'll begin completely humiliating their team by closing them up with cloaked and dc'd and mc'd OC's (confusing, eh?)
    -Parasite them to death

but usually they accept it, so I don't have to go playing as a person that needs to teach noobs the hard way.

I love watching newb skulks navigate their way across a map, they seem to take about 10 steps, stop, spin around in one spot a couple of times, look up, spin around some more and move on, until they find a res point...then it's stop, look up and down followed by the sound of the 'use' key *bleep* *bleep*

Almost like going to a zoo to watch apes being put into new cages, good fun <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->
