My Only Problems With Natural Selection...

<div class="IPBDescription">(And there are very few :P)</div> First let me say I absolutely LOVE NS. It is one of the most impressive mod's I have ever seen for halflife hands down.
I do have some problems with it though, just a couple though.
1: The game has some serious problems with strobing lights. An epileptic would kill himself if he tried to weld something or played a skulk. I literally have to close my eyes when repairing someone with a weld tool <!--emo&::asrifle::--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/asrifle.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='asrifle.gif'><!--endemo--> , or taking down a resource tower as a skulk. <!--emo&::skulk::--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/skulk.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='skulk.gif'><!--endemo--> The vast contrast in lighting and quick biting just give me headaches. Which leads to me being able to play the game much less then I would want <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/sad.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad.gif'><!--endemo-->
2: Maps. Amazing textures, amazing level design, fits the game perfectly. However, they seem fairly similar, is there any thing in the future for different types of layouts? Such as bases between two canyons, or partially outdoors maps? With all the artwork and style the maps have, I would love to see it in a slightly different setting.
3: Learning curve can be brutal, especially for a commander. Even after reading the instructions and such, I am still ignorant of some options. Any chance of some type of tutorial with the game? Marines get stuck with some IDIOT commanders at times, yet it's the only way for them to learn.
I can't think of any other things if I tried <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo--> lol
Still shocked that the HL team hasn't contacted your crew...
Thanks for reading <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->

Outdoor maps dont work in ns and the engine and entity limitations... hera marine spawn is above it, much more is not possible.
Tutorials are missing bad, but noobs dont read tutorials.
1) I don't have any problem with the strobing light thingies.....but then again I have 20/20 vision and I've played online games well into the wee hours of the morning before, the only light sources being the moniter and my optical mouse.
2) I do say that the maps COULD use a bit of variation in terms of the settings....but it's supposed to be claustrophobic, and thus outdoor maps would ruin this setting.
3) The learning curve and complexity, IMHO is what made NS great.
In response to #2, it is the choice of the mapper to change the textures. Yes, I would like to see outdoor maps, but then I would be reminded of cs and that is not good at all <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo--> And yes, outdoor maps would be too complex to make for this.
In response to #3, I believe someone said this somewhere else in these forums and I'm gonna say it too, learn through your experience and the experience of others. Comming is a B*** to learn. I cannot comm for the life of me unless I decide to use my mic (which I broke quite recently in a rather funny way); so I won't be comming for a while.
EDIT: I had to add that B for the ****.
...
The learning curve is something that made me snap, since the new people were driving me crazy with there apparently suicidal antics (IE: Hey! I got killed going into that WoL. LET'S DO IT AGAIN!). Thus, I will happily play DoD for a month till things smooth out.
I also agree with the welding/biting animations. It does make my head hurt a bit, quite a lot actually. Sadly, I think that biting will never be fixed, since it would interfere with gameplay as it is supposed to block your view a bit. But welding is insane. If the comm makes me a welder monkey for the round, that is the only round I play, since I need to take a break after seeing that bright blue flare every 5 seconds.
I didn't mean an outdoors map as much as a map that has some areas out doors. A large spacous map isn't at all what I meant to imply. Maybe 10-15% could be a kind of "outside" feeling.
Maybe like a base built on a mountain side with ramparts and such, or a base at the bottom of a cratter.
That's all.
Pisses my brother off because he starts twitching, but I love it...

Oh...
In that case, I recommend an abandoned geothermal power plant built at the peak of an active volcano (not sure why they would want to do this, but it's an idea) with some access walkways outside the volcano.
Oddly enough sometimes when playing NS for a while I feel kinda cramped running around inside all the time. A level with more outdoor sections would be a nice change of pace. The HL engine isn't the best with doing interesting outdoor areas or sloped terrain, but they could still try SOMETHING.

Soldier #2: Yes sir! <<"Psszhhhthzhthsh">>
Entire squad falls to the ground in seizures.
Soldier #1: ENEMY!!!
Skulk: Me like food that moves.

hmm... like hera?
yeah i kinda wanna see more maps like that. i loved how they opened up that node on the landing pad in hera. then you go outside and look at the huge base you're fighting in. except you can't fly out there with a lerk... <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/sad.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad.gif'><!--endemo-->
Am I dreaming then when I see lerks soaring magestically around out there spiking my RT to death? Not to mention Fades. Man, it's like Fades with 1.04 jetpacks out there <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->
Now I know what your thinking: that's also starcrafty. But you could make the diamonds green or something... just a thought...
But for a serious marine resource node, you could have oil or something. I know that won't work with aliens, but its a start........................?

I believe you are... lol
What the hell does 20/20 vision have to do with epilepsy?
