Unlock the Universe
Stargate: SG1 is in it's 7th season of production airing on Sci-Fi, an 8th is planned making it the second longest science-fiction series just after the X-Files, and there may yet be a 9th. I haven't seen it in many years but after catching it in syndication on a local station in I've taken a renewed interest. Remarkably it hasn't changed much over the years, it still is the best TV sci-fi series stories bar-none.
The premise of SG1 where any world imaginable can be visited through the Stargate allows for a huge variety of stories that are linked together by seeing how the SG1 team works through them. The show seems similar to Star Trek: Voyager, where the crew visits new worlds constantly, however the characters of SG1 have a much greater depth and are infinitely more loveable.
Anyways, I personally love the show, and I'd like to hear others' thoughts about what kicks **** or kicks the bucket.
For those that would like to see episodes, they are available if you know where to look, or what for.

The plot device makes that relativly simple though, as you said, there's always a different twist they can put on things...
I don't know if it'll actually surpass X-Files in running... but unlike X-Files, it's managed not to suck in its now later seasons. (You have to admit, the last season of X-Files blew because thye abandoned their original premise and tried to bring their back plot and such to a conclusion.)
X-Files is a great show. Unfortunately, I've only recently started watching it. I do think that the later seasons aren't always as good, since they started following Agent Dagget and Agent ...what's-her-name.
Anyway, I look forward to where this series will go, and ultimately end. I just hope they don't keep it living longer than it should. Look at Earth : Final Conflict. It was all good up until they got into that Space Vampire stuff.
two mod teams are also making mods for it. one havs a beta out but its made by the french.

I mean seriously, making someone a god, taking that away, doing other weird stuff... meh, not my thang.
Well, if they just do a TFC/CS style battlefeild of SG GIs versus Jaf'fa like in a few episodes (them was good battles) then it might be worth a play for a change up every once in a while.
Now... it would only be cooler if they modded an engine with vehicles... like Tribes... so that we could have those death gliders...
The eps where the lab geeks came in had me in stiches, Avenger 2.0 was Fricken HALARIOUS!
but, at the risk of starting a flame war
Firefly = MEGAPWN!
Firefly had a nice gritty feel but it had humor pouring out every oriface. In the first episode aired (second filmed) had the ultimate line
"Uh sir, shouldnt we-"
"You know what the chain of command is? It's the chain im gonna BEAT you with until you understand who's in chage here? got it?!"
One from season 6 comes to mind, "Nightwalkers" where young Gou'ald's zombified a small town at night was ripped straight from X-Files style and the characters, Jonas Quinn's personality was screaming "Agent Mulder" and Carter- Scully. Different, yes, but still good. Some from season 7, "Fragile Balance" where O'Neill apparently regressed decades in age had me cracking up throughout, and the most recent one "Avenger 2.0" seemed to be going for laughs succeeded but was a bit...perverted in places.
Many of the plots are different, and the stories are a bit more light-hearted then earlier seasons, but the production and acting is still top-notch. Shouldn't jump to conclusions yet, not even 1/2 the way through season 7 though, and season 6 overall was seamless with earlier seasons.
a semi rgp would work with it. you would have to one chose of several missions. depending on the out come of that mission the next set of missions to chose from would be affected. however each mission would be liniar. almost like GTA if the out of mission par was non liniar
Gtand Theft Death Glider, I can see it now....
