<div class="IPBDescription">..how not to get pwned</div> Just some basic tactics for marines. Works with any commander strategy

1. Listen to your commander
Do what your commander wants, follow orders. He will more likely give large guns to marines he can depend on.

2. Stay with your team
Lone marines are fast food for skulks. Stay with your team. You will have more fun with your large weapon if you dont get skulked alone in some dark, creepy hallway.

3. Don«t stand around like sheep
When moving, keep distance to avoid getting pwned by 1 skulk. When standing around - scatter, hide in dark places. make the place your squad is standing appear empty for skulks that rush in. You will have more time to aim when The skulks stand around puzzled, looking for marines.

4. Cheap guns first
LMGs go first, large guns stay back and dont get devoured.

5.Dont go K-E (Knife Ecstasy)
Alien resource towers seem to spread a dangerous nerve gas that makes the marines want to pull out their knives and knife the res, reaching a state of ecstasy.

Obvious sign:
Constant drooling and zero alertness for surroundings.

Another thing I frequently see nubish marines doing: Guarding a room by standing right next to the doorway into the room. FOOLS! Marines are the guys with the GUNS. The more distance a skulk has to cover to get to you, the better off you are. One marine with decent aim can own the occasional skulk that pokes it's head into marine spawn and earn the team a few spare res, and unless the skulks decide they've had enough and group up in threes to take down the marine start, they aren't getting by that lone marine. All you have to do is get in the farthest corner from all three entrances to the room, while your friends go off elsewhere in the level. No turrets, no mines, just one marine, a pistol, and an LMG with a lot of ammo in each of them. Hell, if you really get low, you can tell the comm you're hanging onto one of the RTs, and he'll probably drop you all the ammo you could want.

As a marine, corners are your enemy. Most aliens can only attack you with melee weapons, which means the longer you can hold down the trigger before they're right in your face, the better. If you have to guard a room, find a very long hallway with no entrances except the other side of the hallway, and you'll be able to hold off entire armys of skulks long enough to give your teammates time to react. Every time your stupid self camps right around a corner, you're just asking to get eaten alive. The art of ambush works a lot differently with marines. Get out of your skulk mindset and learn to use those guns.
