Over the past few days, in matches and in publics there have been times when ive bitten a marine, in a crowd then switched to leap and leapt to safety, but NO IT DOESNT WORK. i jump up and down losing adrenaline all the time trying to leap but the anti-scripting kicks in because i can switch fast.
Is there ever going to be a way to disable this, maybe a serverside option ?? because for all the semi-competant and above players out there who can actually switch between weapons fast it just ruins leap. I actually rarely use leap anymore just because i know that it rarely works for me when i need it to.
any ideas :/ ?

[edit] also i mainly posted this because in a match today leap didnt work once, not at all during my alien side (and yes for all you smart people we did have 2, even 3 hives) . i just got so angry that i couldnt use the skulks main hit and run ability [/edit]
ps. sheezy , if you havent had this problem, switch faster and you certainly will get it . get those fingers in action
The new blocks on fast switching are very annoying for standard users, but for those of us that have grown up on arrow keys you're more or less removed leap from the game for us.
My old script was damn fair, it enabled me to leap with a button but i'd still have to bite with another, so its not a leap+bite script. This enabled me compete on the same level as everyone else. Now I can't.
I pressed 2 for leap, i upgrade, and then leap wont work
BUT if i press 1, for bite (first attack) and then upgrade, leap will still work.
Also to fix it, press 1, and then upgrade again to something else, and leap will work again.
I have noticed if you swich to a weapon and press fire nearly at the same time, the fire animation will not display but you will make a shot. This also happens with marine weapons. Just go to a res tower, switch to your shotgun and press fire really quick. There will no animation but you will see the yellow sparks that indicate damage.
I also noice this very often as lerk, because it has very long weapon change times. Just press the primal key then attack.. a second later you will see the primal text appearing(without any sound).. then press spike key and attack a long second later you will start attacking.
What i want to say:
Attacks are usually executed after the weapon change time. But only enegy depleating and damaging effects work. Sound, grapics and movement stuff doesnt work.
Maybe this is just a but(existed in 1.04), but i havent seen it in other hl mods(ok... i dont have to switch weapons that fast in other hl mods) or its because of some special code.

I'm going to see if I can find a fool-proof way around this problem..
I understand the desire to stop scripters, but is it really worth it when it penalizes so many legit players?
now THAT I've experienced in 2.0. I leap, switch to bite, and then leap again in the same flying attack (all quickswitched) just messing around on the way to the action, and POOF, I die for no reason (just outside my own hive, so it wasn't mines, didn't see a mine all game), with no one's name next to killing me. It's happened probably 3 times since 2.0.
A question about this problem, does it only occur when you manually switch, meaning can you switch as fast as you want with quickswitch? I use quickswitch nonstop and never see the problem (as I said above).
I use arrow keys, I have no problem weapon switching and have full control of the keypad and up to L, so dont talk crap.
Something that happens to me a lot as Skulk: I go for an attack, try to leap away, it fails, I try to climb a railing, which I can't, then I get killed. This is my biggest annoyance in 2.0... Even more-so when you use your res to evolve into a higher lifeform, can't weapon switch and get killed.
Recently, as Onos, when I am changing from Stomp to Devour, I can get up to about 4 seconds where I can't do anything at all.
Very, very, verrrrrrrrrry annoying "bug," I would love to know if it's going to be addressed in the future.
Just a thought, I've never had that problem and I've learned silent biting, then leaping away to be very useful.
[edit] I finally had that problem. It's scary.. you're jumping, you're pressing the right button.. and you're not leaping. No clue what causes it, but I find waiting a little longer after switching usually solves it [/edit]
you can swith as fast as you want but you gotta wait for the 1st person weapon switching.
I stomp/devour all the time (using "previous weapon" command), and let me tell you, whenever I devour someone I NEVER see my lil horn do the devour animation. But the marine is definitely still in mah belleh. So if you can't get stomp/devour to work, chances are your devour missed.
It IS an issue with leap, charge, and blink however... I really don't see why they would even bother with anti-scriping like this... pretty much all good players learn how to switch weapons quickly, and weapon switching scripts don't make THAT much of a difference =\

Heck, If it didn't take energy, leap would be one of the cheapest things you would see. Imagine the immense damge you could do from a perminate leap.
But as for the fast switch, I always just hit previous weapon and switch back with more then enough time to fly out of a turreted base

I've never had this problem, altho I go the other way, I leap, then "lastinv" to bite to kill the marine, no point in running away if you are a skulk.
I can't recall any complaints about "OMG HE R BEEING TEH SKRIPTOOR!!!11!!1one"
Was there any point WHATSOEVER to this anti-script crap? God this is like Planetside: Let's make it possible for 56kers to kill LPBs THROUGH WALLS because of this awesome anti-lag code we have! And let's make it easier to shoot the lower your details are!
I can't count the number of times Xenocide wouldn't activate for nearly 5 seconds for me. Or charge wouldn't work. Or hell, even stomp-devour.
Completely, 100% remove this anti-script nonsense. It isn't giving an 'unfair advantage' to anyone, script or not.

The problem I have with it is that when I'm a fade it's pretty hard to se if you have swipe or blink selected. So if I don't get any sound confirmation that I have swiped I'll try to change weapon again. This of course leads to me blinking into the marine looking folish, changing weapon, not hearing a swipe, rince repeat...
Monkeybonk, calm down. We don't know what's the reason for this is. If it is a feature or a bug. There is no use in bashing Flayra. The best we can do is to is to state that we have problem with it but calm and rationally. People tend to listen more when they aren't shouted at.
And im still good as ever at leap biting...
Maybe its cos i switch to bite straight after a leap, so i dont notice the 1 second difference.
(leap acts like a charge so even if you switch weps the leap does damage)
One thing i have noticed tho - randomly my skulk wont bite for some reason, normally happens after i bunnyhop for a while, into a marine to find that i cant bite without pressing mwheeldown (for slot1) again.
Pistol seems to draw pretty fast too.
Edit: Someone said there was no point of running away if you are a skulk; that is wrong, if you manage to kill 2 marines out of agroup of 3, but cant manage the third due to low hp, its much better and quicker to run away with leap, heal, and go back to attack him , rather than spending time and resources on respawning, and then getting upgrades.
Personally i take regen + celerity + sof as a skulk, just to be able to do hit and runs.

Anti-script? bah, first of all scripts are in HL for a good reason; to be used.
Second, i can manually switch weapons at the same speed that a script will do (hud_fastswitch 1, and slot1 slot2 slot3 slot4 bound to keys near my arrowkeys.. instant change).
Useless.

Also, charge doesn't work for me sometimes, I've noticed it doesn't work if you're in the air, or jumpo, yet I'd be on the ground, the sound would play, but no energy being drained, no increased movement speed, nothing, yet I can't do it again since there's now a cool down time on it. Annoying when you're using charge to run away from marines.
