<div class="IPBDescription">A map i am working on.</div> Let me tell you a story. A story of a deep space exploratory ship. This ship left the system of Sirius just before the advent of our interstellar drives. She used the Orion thrust developed in the mid to late 20th century. She was tracked for just about twenty years at about that time contact was broken off. We believed her to be around ten light years away. At the twenty year mark all contact with her was silenced. She was then marked as lost, no search was sent for we were incapable of reaching her, and well space is just plain to big to find her.
Now several years ago a ship drifed into a colonized system, the planets deep space detection devices saw her. Radio and all other means of contact failed to get a response out of her. So the planet sends us, the local detachment of TSA Marines. We go out and put her into a stable orbit about our star. Well we searched the data base for the ship's number, and all we got was lost in deep space and a date. We manouverd our ship to the bridge and clamped on. We began cutting a hole through the main window, what we thought was syntho-glass but was actually quartz. Our welders couldn't cut through so we had to blast the window out with high explosives.
Now onboard we smelled a terrible mustiness as if it had been abandoned for years. Our scanners soon began screaching about the Kharaa's bacteria being in the air. We had to prepare ourselves for a fight and to do it in a hurry too. We had just gotten the infantry portals up when a single skulk appeared in the doorway and parasited 2 marines. We killed it quickly before it could tag any more of us. Soon there after we built a turret factory and some turrets just as a few reinforcements trickled in.
Our commander gave us a way point some distance away wich lead us into the ships mess. We soon got the resource node built. We turned around just in time to see two or three skulks rushing our position. We lost one man before we got both of them. After this we moved into the crew quarters to build the resource nodes there along with a turret factory and a few turrets. After we secured our position here we moved over to the hydroponics facility to be greeted by three skulks and a gorge. We lost four men in the battle that ensued. Our sensors seemed to indicate that this was a hive location. So I built a phase gate for some of the troops at base to reinforce me. After a few more marines arrived we built a turret factory; a few turrets; an observatory; and lastly a resource node. Our groop was on the way to docking bay alpha when we were ambushed by six skulks. We lost quite a few men but several were saved by the med packs that our commander dropped. We arrived in the cargo bay to find a gorge happily building a resource node, it was totally oblivious to our presence. A marine with a shotgun went right up behind that gorge and ended its pitiful existence
Our commander warned us that a hive was located in the engine room just south of us. He also said around a dozen offence chambers were guarding it. Well then our commander dropped us a phase gate and a turret factory. After these were built, our commander placed eight turrets and he began to upgrade the turret factory. When we had finished building three of the turrets, a fade blinked out of the hive and killed three marines before we could take it down. A couple minutes later the we had finished the turrets and a couple siege cannons. Just as the cannons finished the sound of dieing offence towers in the other room was heard. After five minutes of failed skulk attacks and occasionally a fade attack, the hive was dead and we controlled the engine room.
After a brief celebration our commander informed us that the last enemy have was in the ventilation systems. After a brief march to uranium storage beta, we built a typical phasgate and turret factory combo with 7 or eight turrets to support us. We were builing a couple sieges when the thumping of an onos was heard. Our squad turns around to see an onos, a lerk, some gorges, and a few skulks charging our postion. Also at that very moment three heavy armors with heavy weapons come through our phase gate. We turned the on coming enemies into lunch meat. All while this was happening our commander scans the hive location and the siege cannons begin to liqify all the alien builings within range.
After the sieges cease firing and our wounds attended to, the commander informs us that the siege cannons cannot hit the hive and that we have to go in and finish it off. All of us equipped with heavy armor and a various assortment of weapons move upon the hive. The aliens seemed to have little fight in them as we tore the hive apart with shotguns and heavy machine guns. The hive quickly fell to our fire, and we then proceeded to mop up the remnants of the alien infestation.
Well I am glad you listened to my story, and I hope it entertained you. Just remember many men have died trying recapture old space ships from the Kharaa, and it did take us a while be we finally eradicated that menace from most of the infested stations.
