IMHO, discluding the so called powerful weapons of money, religion, and etc, I would have to say that the most powerful weapon in the world is the thermonuclear hydrogen gas bomb. There are other similiar theoritical bombs, don't know if they are possible to create yet, such as the cobalt bomb and neutron bomb.
From what I have read, the hydrogen bomb's center region is so hot, that everything would vaporize into mist.
I don't know if you classify this a weapon, but the most powerful explosions are those of supernova and even the big bang itself.
But the coolset weapon goes to, I'll have to figure out later.
Neutron bombs...minimal explosion, buildings left intact...all biological matter: Vaporized....not a WMD either...thats just a stupid term coined by dictator bush and his yuppy trolls
gasoline fuel bomb covers an area with a thin mist of gasoline, then the detonator sets it all on fire
instant torching of many city blocks without any hard-to-clean-up fallout.

it *is* a wmd. just because bush uses the phrase a lot doesn't mean he coined it.

Quite honestly the most powerful weapon that exists right now in terms of sheer death toll would be a modified influenza virus. Of course that would be rather hard to control so you might not want to be on the planet for a while.... Actually, it wouldn't be too hard to engineer it to make cells produce botulinum toxin either...

I guess ill answer this then weapons are no use without an owner as such the best weapon in the world is MAN/WOMEN yer yer i dont wanna be sexist M/W has the ability to create aids in his destruction of the earth and the things that live on it
The problem with M/W is that its in thier nature to destory themselves weapons such as nukes/guns/knives allow them to get to this goal faster at the expense of other things living on the planet.
Ultimately M/W is the best weapon on the planet they have the ability to adapt to a given situation and overcome something nomatter what the ods are, but in the end we will destory ourselves because of our pety greed and lust for power.
